1.6 clutch and flywheel in NA8 - which combo?

Hi every one,
Once again I am seeking knowledge and experience.
The clutch in my NA8 is slipping a bit on the more urgent gear changes - so I am presuming its on its way out. I also think that my rear main seal might be leaking a little because I have seen a small amount of oil around the weep hole on the underside of the gearbox.
These things considered I am now looking at a new clutch and flywheel combo.
I have heard and read that putting in a 1.6 clutch and lightweight flywheel is a great upgrade for non-turbo NA8s.

My question is what clutch and flywheel combo should I go for?

Original NA8 Flywheel is 8.7kg (so ive read)
Stock NA6 flywheel is only 1 or 2kg lighter
Aluminum 1.6 flywheels are 5.3kg
Chromoly 1.6 flywheels are 3.6kg

Which one would be better? Is chromoly too light for an NA8?

Exedy or Xtreme clutch kit? (looking for a heavy duty type clutch so it can handle track conditions)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you hope or expect to achieve with a replacement clutch/flywheel?

Essentially more clutch grip since mine is on the way out - and its a prime opportunity for upgrade to help it rev faster and more freely. I have heard several times that people have noticed a positive difference from a lightweight 1.6 setup in a 1.8. Obviously no HP increase, but a better feel etc.

Are you suggesting I should just get a HD 1.8 clutch and get the flywheel machined? Since I will be spending $ on a clutch, machine of flywheel and labour, it makes sense to me to just get the best bits for a little more

The exedy and extreme clutch are identical for this purpose.

The extreme comes in at 10% cheaper for an identical product and I feel that close to 100% of people who fit the exedy also machine everything and probably more of them pay a shop to do it, where as you backyard guys and guys skipping the machining are likely to get the 100% but 50 bucks cheaper product. This is my theory on the "some people have issues with extreme but almost no one does with exedy".

You actually will make more rwhp with a light flywheel, if you want performance go as light as you can stand in stop start traffic.

Ah awesome. Ill get the Xtreme clutch with the light chromoly flywheel. Im not in a big city so it should be fine.

if you're gonna stay NA then a 1.6 kit is feasible.

if you eventually want to go FI then I'd stick with a 1.8 kit.

Hey just to let you know, I've also been looking for clutches, I found a place on eBay that were pretty cheap, you'll get the 1.6 exedy HD clutch for the same price as the extreme. I just got the 1.8 clutch and only 440 for it, just type the product number into eBay and you'll find it. Just thought I'd let you know, at least when it comes down to purchasing money won't alter your decision for the clutch

If you haven't already, check the CAS o-ring is leaking oil which is then running all the way down.
NA6 FW was 18lbs or 8.1kg. NB8A FW was slightly lighter than NA8, & NB8B/C FW was slightly lighter than NB8A. Believe the NB8B/C FW was eventually 2.5lbs lighter than NA8 FW, so potential alternative to the NA6 flywheel.

Great, thanks for the info.
The CAS o-ring may be the problem, as I couldnt source a new one in time when the water pump and timing belt was done (from memory).
