Metallic grinding noise from rear
Hi guys was planning on taking my car in for a diagnosis of what im experiencing but just wanted to hear your thoughts. So over the past couple of mobths ive noticed this grinding noise coming at around 3500 rpm from what feels like the rear. It comes from either slightly off downshifts or sometimes just from general driving. If I accelerte with more throttle and then step off the gas around 3500rpm, sometimes the noise will make that horrible grinding harsh vibrational noise for a good few seconds but once i depress the clutch, it disappears right away. Should note that my clutch feels fine and car feels perfect when it comes to shifting gears. Cheers

Noisy diff or gearbox?
You can change the oil in both I suppose, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. My diff is noisy on overrun sometimes, both my current one and the one in my old NB8B. Pretty sure it's fairly normal.

yeah I'm thinking its diff..a bit more research led me to someone else with a similar issue a while back. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=56400
I've also read in a few places that upgrading to a torsen removes the noise but dont think i'll be going that route. Would changing out the bushes for some poly diff bushes make much of a difference ?

I wouldn't imagine so. It's the diff that's noisy, not it's mounts.
