Which 205/50/15 semi slicks?

do you want semi slicks or fast road tyres?

KU36 / AD08 are not semi slicks.

If you want semi's get A050... or NT01 for the budget option.

Really trying to find something that I can use occasionally on the road and to drive to and from the track and which doesn't melt on lap 3 even with my cowardly braking technique and which means I don't have to take spare wheels and tyres to the track. Yes, I know I'm asking a lot, especially when I want to pay 2c per corner.

sounds like you're after a pretend semi, ad08r, ku36, r-s3, 123s etc. Although, I don't think the 123s comes in 205/50, only 195/50

R-specs = true semi-slicks = DOT legal track tyres: shyte on road, great on track. e.g.
Toyo R888 / Nitto NT01
Yokie A050 / A048
Bridgestone RE11s (not sure if DOT legal)
Kumho V700 & V70A
etc

Just remember that not all DOT tyres are road legal in Australia.

The consensus is that there is no consensus.

The only exception is that 888s are both hated and loved.

Apparently Yoko have extended their 4 for 3 offer for another month but there's no stock for possibly 3 months. So you pay, then wait.

Toyo R1R might be worth a look but personally I am not convinced in the value of S-Specs. They are about a second off the pace on track, last 4 laps before turning to grease and then the tread vanishes in a cloud of blue smoke and rubber marbles. They are also about the same price as a proper semi-slick. They do have much better road manners though.

Thanks for your thoughts. This almost makes me inclined to wait 3 months for the Yokie AD08Rs at $600ish. What are their weaknesses on the track bearing in mind I have too much power for my level of skill and cowardice (which means I put a lot of heat into front brakes and tyres and the motor puts even more heat into the rear tyres)?

So that's the conundrum. Do I stick (no pun intended) to S specs and look to set a time on, say, laps 2, 4 and 6 only and have decent longevity and road manners or do I go R specs with more $$$, less longevity and a less enjoyable drive on the road in exchange for maybe more quick laps?

My experience, NT01 is faster than the R888 in dry, R888 last longer and are faster than the NT01 in the wet. Both come up to temp quickly and don't drop off, even after an hour and a half on the track. I've not had a problem with either of these tyres on the road, sure they're noisier than a street tyre but they can barely be heard over the rest of the car. My car is used mainly for track work, gets dríven to and from the track and the occasional trip to the shops.
