The turbo car is for sale , new paint job so wont see the race track again untill someone buys it.

Ill be running my white na 1.8 with minor mods. Love the close racing with col and evil, Bring on next year cant wait.

Well in QLD things seem to be reasonable in the race scene.

Yeah Roger, waited for a tow truck, lift back home, duck down to Repco new fan belt and a quick blat up to the park but everyone was gone, saw the last few heading back through the Gap Village. Ultimate cover with RACQ meant free tow home, so made my money back this year.

So whats happening ATM, well if your in QLD and thinking about racing an MX5 in 2F then now is the time to
stop "umming and erring" and do something about it.

There are moves by the powers to be to make things easier and fairer to come racing. Forget the utter bullshit
sprooked about by some uninformed "experts" about your car will be used as a battering ram, your car being written off in the first corner,
the faster cars are 490 kms quicker and will smash you to pieces as it's all crap.

YES, racing can be dangerous and YES you can write off your car, but if you can't afford to lose the car you shouldn't go on the track, that includes trackdays as well!!!!

How many cars have been written off in the past 3 years in PSCRAQ events???? um!!! 1, yes thats right 1, ONE, that I know of!!!
How was it written off, did someone ram him, NOPE, did someone biff him off, NOPE, did he get clipped in the corner NOPE, the owner decided to fit so-so tyres to the car, and the driver managed all by HIMSELF to roll it.

How many cars have been damaged, that could not continue racing that day????? in the same period,umm! JF's lotus,(Back next meeting)JF's lotus,(hit on start line in standing start)
we do rolling starts in AASA, again back in next meet.So say maybe 4, can't think of who but !!!!

How many in trackdays with car clubs I've been to, Matt, Tony B, white Silva, porsche and a few others from here ,these where at one (1) --% trackday!!!

So if you serious about going racing pm me and we will (PSCRAQ) will help getting you started.

You never know there may even be a MX5 only races to compete in.

Read the CAMS manual under sports car 2f to get the rules. Basically no turbos, on NA6 or 8. Roll cage /bar, r spec tyres, ignition cut out, tailshaft loop, tow hooks, extinguisher, triangles, race seat and harness, race suit etc. A lot of this stuff is so bloody basic and easy to do its not funny. Car does not have to be CAMS logbooked to compete in AASA events.

Do you need mega horsepower, NO, we started in a 1.6 with 100 rwhp ( and yes thats actual horsepower, not forum hp) qualified 9th out of 13 cars. End of first lap I was coming 13thbut had an absolute ball. Raced all day with 3 other cars and we all finished within a car length of each other. Had the car tuned and came up with 120hp and no big hole in the tune, raced all day a QR, side by side through turn 1 and never came close to touching anyone.

IN fact 2 one hour races, 8 odd race meetings before I got crook and not a scratch on anything, sorry 3 bullet holes in the screen. Now I can't say the same about GTs or Porsche Cup as it's a fucken miracle if you don't have a least $5000 damage in a good race, in fact I've watched 1 million plus damage in one race start

If you treat others with respect it WILL be returned. I can't afford to be replacing panels every meet and nor can anyone else, and beside its a PIA take panels off and on.

If you thinking about it, make up your mind and do it!!!!!

I agree with everything Terry just said. Except the bit about if you can't afford to lose the car, you shouldn't be racing it in the first place. I can not afford to lose my car and certainly can't afford to lose my mates very expensive Ginetta he has been so kind as to let me race this year! Thing is, I have enough confidence in myself not to over cook it and enough faith in my fellow competitors not to run into me, that it is an informed risk I take. Albeit perhaps a foolish one!

I've seen a lot more cars written off at Lakeside track days than I have at race meetings.

Prodsports seems to be going towards GT spec and that means faster and faster cars.

If it comes down to it, I would rather play in the AASA sand pit because they aren't as prescriptive. In the Endurance races Wakefield and Winton 300's the classes are based on lap times in qualification (with some rules around sandbagging) and it's pretty much all in. If there isn't an MX5 challenge in 2013, I'll just race Super TT - bigger fields, someone to overtake and generally clean racing.

Same with FoSC - hit another car and you go home. The end.

The rules around modifications aren't an issue so I can do pretty much what I want. Just for the record my car is being developed as a 2B or in Prodsports 2C (8.1kg/kw) so that it is saleable if I want to move into a different category...

If only I had the cash for an open wheeler...

In hindsight a sweeping statement. Have taken the Prodsport discussion off-line with a pm.

I will continue to attempt ProdSports but with more development in the car... MIght have to consider a hair dryer - it is an MX5 after all!

My reason for not wanting to run in prod sports is its too expensive!!

Why? cams license isnt cheap (aasa license $100 buck a year) Track entry $220 and additional catagories $80. Can be on the track all day!!!
Cams events have double the entry costs!.
Perfect example was the prod sports round at ec with the v8's. $1500 entry, 1 race cancelled so only 2 races and qual. Plus new tyres (which were trashed). (thats the cost of the mra for a year in entries!!)

My cousin will run the new turbo car in prod sports. And only a few rounds!.

To be competitive need new slicks every round, track costs, travel expenses, and the longer races put alot more stress on the cars.

AASA and fosc are the cheapest option avail and you can be competitive on 1 set of tyres the whole season , which is all i can afford.

Theres too many "rules" about a cars requirements in the prod sports rules too!

Fix these things and ill be at all the prod sports rounds!!! Cost is the main issue. If you can afford it its a higher level of racing

Really? We just won the CUE 1hr series outright this year and we only had a new set of slicks at one event.
