What's the go with dual entries; does the second person need to be a member of this or another car club, or can she "tack it on" to my membership? I was hoping to invite my mum to come along to take the MX5 for a spin... she is a bit of a leadfoot from way back  but is not a member of any car clubs.

I'm down like a clown this time round but will wait until I find out if I can bring mum before putting my name in blood as it would obviously affect the method of entry...

Sounds like it is up the the discretion of the event organisers, Mike and Zan, as to whether mum is 'an invited guest'.

c) Entries are open to all members of the Mazda MX-5 Club of NSW Inc. along with invited guests.
Preferential opening date for MX-5 Club members is the 29th October 2012. The general opening
date for entries is the 5th November 2012. Should the maximum number of entries be exceeded
then preference will be given to members up to 5th November and then in order of entry date
received irrespective of club members or guests.

Assuming it isn't oversubscribed in which case priority is given to members.

Why don't you email Zan and she can clarify for you: eventsec@mx5.com.au

Your mum will be very welcome to participate in this track day as a non-member :D ... but only once. If she'd like to have another go after that, she'll need to join the MX-5 Club. We'll try our best to make a good impression!

gah. talked to her about it and she said a shoulder injury would prevent her from having much fun in a manual car at the moment - but maybe next time. Can I take it she would be just as welcome to have a crack as a guest when she's all healed up?

Anyway I'll be signing up as an individual this time around, thanks for the info though :D

Yes absolutely. Visitors can sign up to any of our track days, even if they don't have an MX-5. The only catch is that they're only eligible to do it once. "Once bitten" should be enough for them to decide whether it's worth paying a measly $55pa + $15 joining fee, and then be eligible for a $20 discount per track day, AND get four editions of our glossy club magazine, AND participate in all other club events. Bargain!

Nearly a full house for this track day (80 drivers). :D There are only seven places left, so get in quick if you want a run. An Earlybird rate is available to MEMBERS ONLY of $140 – payment must be received no later than Monday 18th November 2012.

Newbie question: will I be able to drive with the top down in a stock standard NB8A?

If I can't I'll bring the hard top, soft top doesn't have enough room for me + helmet. Prefer to drive with no roof though...

I always thought you could only run roof down at wakefield if you had roll over protection.

Have they lifted this stupid rule??

I thought that Wakefield still requires top up if no ROPS in place.

However, Mike Hicks can arrange a special exemption if driver height with helmet makes driving difficult, so talk to Mike.

It's a rule. However, its been relaxed at times due to heights. A grey nb often often runs top down!
