Ok.
I hope i make sense here.
I have a na6 with a bp na8 engine in it.
it is using the flyin miata throttle body spacer/adaptor.
The issue with this is the spacer takes away space between the radiator and the engine for the intake piping.
I am about to run a megasquirt and will be loseing the afm.
I will also be running a variable throttle position sensor.
I know i can use a auto throttle body with vtps but my question is,
does the NA8 throttle body use a variable tps and would there be a reason why i can not loose the flyin miata spacer amd just run a na8 throttle body to regain that inch of clearance?
Any help much appreciated.

Yo dude, i have a complete bp engine in my na6 - using the bp throttle body. It does have a variable tps. Check out my garage thread for clearance pictures.

edit:
actually, the only issue i see might come up is the inputs to the ecu. I have a patch loom for the haltech, so wasn't a huge issue, but i am unsure how it would go the ms. I am only running 3 of the 4 wires from the tps. I can have a look at the wiring diagram and let you know how i got it working tonight... maybe.

Re: throttle body, variable tps, na6 with BP
Thanks Plohl.
Now i just need to find a NA8 BP throttle body with Vtps still on it. Even better would be if it had the connector and pigtails with it!!
If i keep the FM spacer and then get a larger radiator i will have almost no room for an intake pipe.

If you're still looking, throw an ad in the wanted/for sale section.
Lots of dead BP engines around as others have said.

Re: throttle body, variable tps, na6 with BP
Trying to diagnose a high idle when hot through,(recent change in behaviour, getting worse) I measured the 2 lower pins on the sensor, and got ~20 Ohms, where all the stuff I have read says either 'shorted' or continuity. 20 Ohm is definitely NOT shorted in my electrical book. Anybody able to advise please? I have a spare on the bench, and its almost exactly the same value.

Re: throttle body, variable tps, na6 with BP
reviving this thread instead of making a new one..
ive bought a na8 bp motor that (plus other parts) is missing its throttle body.
Do any other mazda ones fit -like 626/mx6 ect?
I'm running a megasquirt so im not too fussed if the idle control and vtps is different.
cheers
