I'm registered again too. It's going to be an excellent year with lots of variety and net costs are likely to be lower than 2011 too. There are eight rounds split between Wakefield Park (3) and Eastern Creek (5). The Eastern Creek rounds will be mixed up between the north circuit (2), south circuit (1), GP circuit (1) and full circuit (1). That's a mouth-watering proposition!

The MX-5 Club of NSW came within a whisker of winning the club championship in 2011, and we hope to correct that in 2012. If you're thinking of having a go, please register as a competitor and nominate the MX-5 Club of NSW for the interclub pointscore. If you're not a member, use this as an excuse to join and support the club. The club championship is virtually a "participation award" so you can finish last in class and still earn valuable points. You only need to be able to do less than 1:25 at Wakefield Park or 2:15 at Eastern Creek (current circuit) to be eligible to enter the Championship.

R6, Sunday 26th August 2012, Wakefield Park
R7, Sunday 16th September 2012, Eastern Creek (South)

A couple of changes have been made to the Supersprint calendar ...

http://www.supersprints.com.au/news/101/
Change of date for Round 8 2012 NSW Championship

26 January 2012 | Eric Scheeren

Please note that Round 8 has been moved from Sunday 21st of October back1 week to Sunday 28th of October. The track used will be Eastern Creek North instead of the Main circuit.

Round 5 on the 12th of August will be run on the Main or GP instead of the North Circuit.

This means that the weekend of 27/28 October will be a double-header at Eastern Creek. The MX-5 Club of NSW will have a trackday on the South Circuit on the Saturday, followed by the Supersprint on the North Circuit on the Sunday.

2012 CAMS NSW Supersprint Calendar
R1, Sunday 1st April 2012, Wakefield Park
R2, Saturday 21st April 2012, Eastern Creek (North)
R3, Sunday 3rd June 2012, Wakefield Park

R5, Sunday 12th August 2012, Eastern Creek (Main or GP)
R6, Sunday 26th August 2012, Wakefield Park

Just sent my entry of for April Fool's Day. 8)

It's been a long time since I've been to Wakefield, October last year, so I'm not expecting to do much.

I'm using this as a warm up for the NatMeet event the following week, though that event's on road tyres.

i been doing CSCA supersprints, you usually get like 5 sets of 5 laps or so, is it set up the same?

There are usually about 100 entrants at Eastern Creek rounds where you might get between 4 and 6 runs of three timed laps each (plus a full warm-up lap, then exit at turn 4). That's for the original circuit - not sure how it'll go with the new layouts.

Wakefield park usually has fewer entrants - between 60 and 80. You might expect to have 5-7 runs of four or five laps each (plus a full warm-up lap, and nearly a full cool-down lap). So typically about 25-30 timed laps.

IMHO, they're not as much fun as the club trackdays which provide a more social occasion. However, the CAMS Supersprints are a great way to experience some competition at Eastern Creek and against a wider variety of cars.

I'm interested to hear about your experiences with CSCA if you care to share.

Yeah sounds fairly similar.

CSCA sprints are quite good. Although since they are based on older car clubs the members are usually older people driving. They are probably split 50% really competitive and 50% more for the fun and social aspect.

Fair few MX5s do it from various clubs, so a bit of competition. Not super cheap, i think eastern creek is costing $185 or so for the next event, using North circuit.
Usually get 3-4 flying laps plus your warm up and cool down, groups of about 12 on circuit at any one time.

Everyone is always super nice, and polite. Like i had a guy hold me up in top section of wakefield last time due to his car being twice as heavy but twice as quick on straight. He came over after the runs and said sorry for getting in my way a bit. Stuff like that happens a bit so everyone is there to have fun and respects each other.

Registered for the state series and entered for 1 April as type 3A (mainly so I can leave the passenger seat out to carry some extra gear) and I think I am am equally uncompetitive in 2A or 3A - those civics are waaay too fast !!!.

Running on old R888s, so will be hoping for good dry conditions.

Entry forms out for Round 2 at Eastern Creek North, but at $245 entry + $15 Dorian +$25 garage is a little rich for me just to run the North layout. I know costs are high for circuit hire but these sort of costs are pushing my retirees racing budget to the limit, so I will have to be very selective of events I run other than Wakefield. Will be saving my bikkies for new tyres and hopefully a trip to Phillip Island.

Agreed; plus with NSWRRC you can't be sure how many laps you'll end up with. The North circuit is nothing to write home about and I hope to go to PI twice this year, so will probably give Round 2 a miss as well.
