OMG...... Mine went in today and I'm totally blown away.

Much more comfortable and compliant than my previous setup (stock shocks and H&R lowered springs) but so much more sure footed and the turn in is nothing short of amazing.

Will play with ride height over the weekend and if you see me doing a few laps of Old Pac this weekend - I'm "testing"

If you are Looking at Ohlins - THEY ARE AVAILABLE TO BUY IN AUSTRALIA

Steve Cramer Proucts
PO BOX 1064
BRAESIDE, Victoria 3195
Tel. +61 3 9587 1466
Fax. +61 3 9587 2018
E-mail: ohlinsaustralia@stevecramerproducts.com.au

Complete kit for the NC is $50 more than the usual place in the US but freight is $50 not $300 and here's the gotcha - if you need to do a warranty claim on Ohlins - you have to send them back to the dealer you bought them from and YOU pay the freight.

My DFV's turned out to have a fault on one of the rears and it's cheaper to pay to have it repaired than it is to ship the unit back to the US.

The positive side is they can be revalved for local conditions at rebuild time.

That's good news, I guess.
When I priced mine they were substantially more than the imported price.

Wonder what revalve for local conditions is? Can't see as I'd want mine any different to what they are now.
BTW How's the hand?

Steve was a really nice guy and really knew his stuff. An avid bike rider and the Oz distributor and rebuild center. He said that the price dropped substantially recently from the factory rather than because of the dollar (he buys in Krona).

I offered to post here to pass the word around that there was a local supply point and reckon that he'd be open to a group buy if the numbers were there. Possibly a group valving as well....I have to speak to him on Wednesday but he said it wasn't much - I'll ask.

The hand ? Ahhhhhh - just a flesh wound ! Looked far worse than it was, we IT geeks heal quickly !

Thanks Guy. I'd bet there'd be a queue of NC owners wanting to do a head to head test drive to compare their setup with your ohlins.

Now for NA/NB owners, I will put up a hand to express interest. Not sure when I'd pull the trigger. Surely there'd be a decent number of SP/SE owners, plus track hack owners, keen to look at this, too.

So Steve does BMX, MX, now MX5... I detect a pattern!

Where did you buy your Ohlins from in the US? GWR?

So if the kit for the NC is $50 more here compared to the price you paid for from the US did you factor in the Custom Duty because it is well over $1000?

also how often do these Ohlins need to be rebuilt?

Yes, and Brian was nothing short of fantastic, and yes, the difference included the import GST. The issue is, I suppose, Ohlins terms on warranty. I've been burnt before by this so I am a little sensitive. I am in NO WAY criticizing GWR - Brian and his crew are OUTSTANDING when it comes to international dealings. No Doubt in any way.

Only advantage here is that we buy from a local disti and therefore get local warranty and local support (Out of Vic). I'm guessing the more we get. the more localisation we will get for valving for the fast guys and slow guys like me.

I've contacted the local contact of the Vendor only who has echo'd the corporate standing on repairs and replacement.

I will find out more on Wednesday.

Anyone interested in me pursuing a group buy ? NA/NB/NC ??

Do you know what a set of these are worth for the NB and how they compare to the PSS9?

Cheers

I'm very interested in a set for the NC.
Would like to have it by early next month so if you could find out about stock levels or how long it would take while you're on the phone to them that would be awesome :D

To answer the question on rebuilds.
Unknown, suffice to say that Ohlin is regarded
by all an sundry as the benchmark that is used in the hope of emulating the quality and performance.
They are alloy bodied which provides both light weight and superior cooling.

I Can but if you call direct and tell him you read about it here, when I call on Wednesday it will have more cred for everyone

Please remember..... you will have to set your settings from scratch. If you have been following TEIN/BILSTEIN/KY/Yellow/Other it's going to be a scratch job ................. they are new here due to the dollars but when we have them dialed we might just set a new standard. look at my other thread to compare notes...

The early adopters have loved them so far. Some have had challenges <including me> and that happens. I want to know why they are #1 in JAPAN and Europe........ Even my Gal loves the difference !

I would just like to mention that when i was researching coilovers I had a chat with Steve and found him to be a particularly friendly and helpful guy- he even offered me his number to contact him on while away on a holiday! At the time he did mention that the Ohlins would have a much more competitive pricing in the coming future, which must be coming to fruition around now. Knowing that Steve was a reliable go-to-man for servicing etc made me feel alot more comfortable about going with Ohlins. As for the Ohlins themselves, they're definitely the business (not including those insanely expensive units with separate components, reserves or whatever-hardcore Motons etc), and so far i haven't been able to fault mine, flawless operation, they even stay reasonably clean given the gold and yellow appearance!

I had a bit of a chat to Steve from Steve Cramer Products and very impressed with the prices

Apparently Steve Cramer Products receives a shipment every fortnight so when it comes to how long you'll get it will depend on your timing of your order and what Ohlins themselves have in stock if they don't have stock and needs to be ordered in.

He then referred me to a local store in Slacks Creek which does the same prices.

Sooo anyone in Brisbane interested in Ohlins? whether it is the NA/NB or the NC?

If all things go to plan I'm thinking of placing an order in the 2nd week of next month.
