MX5 BREAKFAST CLUB- ICEBERG RUN – 7 AUGUST 2011

Meet: McDonalds opposite the intersection of New Line & Northern Roads, Dural.
Time: Sunday, 7 August, 2011 at 5.30 am for a start at 6.00 am sharp.

It's that time of year again, and the Iceberg Run for 2011 will be returning to the Blue Mountains. I have asked Midori to organise the run as BreakFast Club Run, as his involvement last year was great, and I'm no longer in a position where I have as much time to organise due to Med School. I will lead the Iceberg Run back to my first breakfast venue, The Megalong Valley Tea House http://www.megalongtearooms.com/. The venue is quaint with stunning views over the valley and the mountains and serves up hearty country breakfasts costing between $15 to $25. A special menu will be prepared for the Iceberg Run and will be posted closer to the event.

If you have enjoyed a Brass Monkey Run then you will love the Iceberg Run. If you have never been on a dawn buster run then here is your chance on the small MX-5 friendly Iceberg Run to Megalong Valley.

The route takes us from Dural to the Putty Road, missing the Sackville Ferry we used last year, on our way up to Blaxland Ridge Road then off to Kurrajong. We go over the mountains on the Bells Line of Road and cut back from Lithgow on the Hartley Valley Road to the Great Western Highway and drive up to Blackheath for a drop into the Megalong Valley.

We should arrive at the Megalong Valley Tea House for breakfast starting at 9.00 am. You can to get away early to head home or visit a restaurant or attraction in the Blue Mountains on your way back to the city.

MX5 Mania has put their hands up to sponsor the Iceberg Run with some lucky door prizes at the Megalong Valley Tea House including the Australian Heritage Centre just up the road (http://www.megalongcc.com.au/default1.htm).
