New Bridgestone Potenza tyres - RE002 and S001

Postby Guran » Tue May 31, 2011 5:37 pm

I just heard that Bridgestone have released two new tyres.

Potenza Adrenalin RE002 offers improved cornering and stability in the dry, plus improved braking and stability in the wet. Available in 15" to 18" sizes.

Potenza S001 is a replacement for RE050 and is aimed at "extreme sport models". Available in 17" to 20" sizes including "205/45R17 to suit vehicles such as the Mazda MX-5".

S001 is available now and RE002 will arrive tomorrow.

No 14" sizes like the RE001 has, then.

Yea
Bridgestone list a 205-45x16 in the RE002 :D

Hope it's not like the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 where they list the size but don't import the tyre

Thanks Ben
Had a look at these when they were mentioned on RPM a couple of weeks back however my size wasn't listed.
Interesting that it isn't listed on the official RE002 site

Guran's link does show a listing so I edited my post.

Just more expensive over-hyped s@#t like the RE001s.

If they are 13% better as claimed, maybe they will finally be worth their price tag.

I'm with you Joe. I hope they keep doing the RE001s in 14s because they have been very faithful and cheap tyres for me 8) . I'd love to be shown a better 14" tyre for the same sort of price but it doesn't exist (well not one that is eligible for Class 1 at NSW club trackdays).

Incidentally, Wheels magazine published their latest tyre test in the June 2011 issue, and the RE001s rated very well. Michelin Pilot Sport 3 was the clear winner, but RE001s gave 96% of PS3 performance for about half the price!

At $<140 for 195/50/15's I didn't find the RE001's particularly expensive?

I just put some Re002's on my car. I had re001's on and wasnt a fan so i am trying the new ones.
So far i am pleased with their road handling, nice and consistant, smooth and quiet.

I have 17's and they were $240 a piece (reasonable i thought)
