Old Pacific Highway & Pie In The Sky northern Sydney drives

Postby Bizi » Sun Apr 10, 2011 8:22 pm

Hi everyone, I met a few of you yesterday at MX5 Mania and a few of us met up at Pie In The Sky for an OPH drive this morning.

My VW drive mates and myself arrived just before 10.30AM and our MX5 mates not long after that.

Our little group tries to do these drives weekly, if anyone would like to join us. Our existing thread for the drives is here, but we also msg via txts.
http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthrea ... 91&page=14

Hopefully I can update this thread with future dates and txt anyone whose number I have.

What a great place to see some interesting cars and bikes, today at PITS. Perfect weather for the MX5s!

Thanks for taking me in your cars along OPH!

Nice one! Thanks for inviting me along to PITS and looking after my hot hatch mates.
We love this road and have been discussing the MX5 option all of last year!

In fact I like it so much we were there on Monday evening too, for a quick drive and only spotted one car each way and only at the end, so had a great time.

Remember, Monday nights is the best time to visit the Mooney Mooney Club - and is the best excuse for an early weekday drive. :)

Another reason for a twilight drive is to play drive-hunting! Just kidding. No trophies this time. ;)

Hi Sydney MX5ers, anyone up for a drive and/or a chat at Pie In The Sky this weekend?
'A few showers' for Saturday, according to the BOM forecast, which I sure will change a few times over the weekend. :)

After that last deluge, I'm hoping to be at PITS just after 2PM.

Anyone interested in a quick meet and drive today, 2PM-ish, car and weather willing?

Hmm, how about tomorrow (Sunday 1 May?) 2pm or later? According to BOM it's supposed to be clearing...

Sunday looks much better than this morning.
It's pretty clear and perfect now, too, if anyone wanted to get in a drive now.

Was just on OPH and went passed PITS at just before 2pm. No 5's to be seen although plenty of other tasty vehicles parked at PITS. Also a lot of cyclists on OPH of all varieties including a massive gathering just north of the mooney mooney bridge, dunno what the occasion was? Anyway having ridden OPH on my pushy once, I can certainly say never again. Or rather, I would love to do it but only if the road was closed....

As an avid cyclist i fail to understand why anyone would want to cycle up or down the OPH, particularly on a weekend. The NSW government is/has just spent a fortune building a scenic cycle route along the entire NSW coast, yet people want to ride two and three abreast up and down the OPH in the 70/80 km zones on weekends!

Cyclists should be banned on the OPH on weekends to protect themselves from their own stupidity.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I'm hoping that I will find out if anyone knows the owner of the black NA8 I am hoping to buy from zossy, which was a MX5 Club car before it was written off. :)

gotta take my kid to soccer at 9, but I'm going to to drive up quite early (6ish) up OPH up to Brooklyn and back... if anyone's planning to get out then, chuck us a heads-up. .. happy to adjust timing somewhat, as long as I'm back home by 08:30
