Btw a brighter one won't help that much because the cover is tinted,.

If you don't mind the the ghettoness you can either remove the cover, or you can retain the cover but drill some holes into it.

it's not that simple. Festoons like other bulbs are made to specific standards and the dimension of the product also restricts the wattage. Bursons has the full range of Philips and many Narva festoons. The standard interior light is really not designed for map reading but more for general convenience. If you really want to read the street directory or read other small print you can buy proper reading lights. Examples of these are those which have a flexible arm and adjustable head. These can be plugged into a 12v socket or can be hard wired from a live wire pick up point and slung under the dash so they are not on show. You have an advantage also that the product is fully portable and you can take it out of the car when you sell it or in the case of a plug in type transfer to any other car. If you could get a higher wattage festoon to sit in your interior light it will in all likelihood damage the acrylic lense as the lamps have very little clearance betwixt lense and light source and build up of heat will result.

If the bulb is old you could try a new one. As they get older they're not as bright.

i got one of those interior lighting kits from Mania. made a vit of a difference in the brightness of light in the cabin

I've already gone LED still not much brighter

I now have them interior light kit things same as Regie

it attaches to both side of the console

brightens up the cabin

I modified my existing tinted lamp by using a dremmel tool to cut out the tinted section and replaced it with an opaque plastic, after the transplant I used a stick on / heatshrink Carbon Fibre look film to make it all neat and professional looking.
Brightness increased X 100%
