Pics of Buddyclub wheels on MX5's?

Yes, the straight spoke P1's look awesome and are exactly what I want! They are still advertised on the Buddyclub website, whether that means they are availible or not is a different story!

My other option is the P1 racing II Plus, which seem more availible. The pictures i'v seen of them on other cars dont seem to have as much dish as the promo pic on MX Mania:



Does anyone have these on a 5?

I got the same rims as Tien but 16 x 7 with an offset of 42

Even though I have 7 inch rims I still ended up sticking with 205 Adrenalins. As far as I know, they don't make 215's in the size I need (if you want Adrenalins). I was looking at 17's but I was more worried about handling issues.

Am I happy? I'm not sure. I drove the car a whole 15 mins home then I jumped on the plane to Denmark (Scandinavia). I did notice a huge difference in the rain. I was driving on stock rims with the original tyres (7 years old). Give me a few weeks and I might be able to upload some photos and give a better review

What sorta nut do you have with your buddyclub rims?

The nuts I have on mine I can't get off :'( with the wheel remover thing that comes with the car
It won't fit in the hole

I'm not worried about removing it as I can get tools at work

But is anyone else having problems? What did you do about it?

For this sort of problem you need either really narrow nuts... or spline drive nuts?
Narrow nuts tend to be Japanese Aftermarket... Buddy Club, Rays etc. and quite expensive...

Spline drive nuts however... can be quite cheap... I got mine for about $30 whole set and they're still holding up well
Someone recommended me these a long time ago (sorry but I've forgotten who it was... but to that person... thank you! they are still holding up great)

I'd recommend the 6 point spline because you don't have to carry around the key with you... if you're not worried about the locking anyway

Any Repco should be able to get these in for you

the nuts aren't the problem they fit fine its just the wheel brace that comes with the car won't remove it the nuts as the wheel brace socket is too big

I don't really understand what you mean by the 6 point spline and that you don't need to carry a key

I had the same problem with my SP20 when I got wheels for it. I simply bought a wheel brace that fitted.

What I'm suggesting is that you change the wheelnuts so that... the situation doesn't arise...

ummm... spline drive nuts are mostly smaller diameter than socket dríven nuts, so you won't have a problem with the tool you use fouling the rim... do you get what I mean?

6 spline nuts are more convenient because the other ones are irregular shapes, hence you definitely need to carry around the key?
When it's at the mechanic you won't have any problems with forgetting the key because they'd have hex drive for the rattle guns anyway

After all this talking... I think Rossints idea is better...

get them to take smaller socket less weight again...

Yes... you would need to carry the key anyway for emergencies...

But yeah, with spline drive nuts... you just use the brace on the key... and then poke the key into the nuts!
