how do we know what 90db is i know mines loud but there's 2 kinds of loud its like a sounds system powered by rotel versus akai. there's noisey and there's loud.

For what it's worth, having done one of these years ago, they took the reading 5m from the rear of the car, with engine at a constant 3000rpm...

yeah i know i'm going to have to control the throttle more but, i dont think it will help much because as soon as you accelerate just that fraction too much it really kicks over. i guess i could just get some semi's for the day? hmmm.

those exhaust restrictors would really hinder the car down low. i'm hoping not to use one of those as i need as little back pressure as possible with the rotary, otherwise i have absolutely no torque in the low rpm (even lees than normal)

Mate there is absolutely no grip on 90% of the surfaces at Mt Cotton so the less power you have the better most of the time. Put a restrictor in.

You'll be absolutely fine.

A chainsaw is 94d and an increase in 4 d is a doubling in volume (IIRC from grade 6). I'd think that even the rotary at 4000rpm would be under the limit.

The noise regulations are no different to the legal limit. While I was working there, measurements were taken from various points of the facility and then suspect cars individually tested. Testing was as per ADRs. So if your car is road legal, then you won't have a problem. If it isn't road legal, then just drive it accordingly and you won't have a problem. Stick it on wot for second on end, and we will all have a problem as we may not get invited back.

As a guide, our MX5 is just within. The Charade is smack on the limit. Interestingly the MX5 sounds louder than the Charade. We have had cars that are well over the legal limit, but have managed to let them run if they are dríven sensibly. If your car is as powerful as you say, then you will not have a problem turning the wheels at 3500rpm with 15% throttle.

a restrictor will bring you closer (or push you over) the detonation threshold, so dont go revving the crap out of your rotor with one of those on it!!!
