was i ?

i'm usually pretty reserved i think.
were you there sam? did we meet?
i guess the problem with forums / usernames is that we are all a bit anonymous and when we do actually meet, we use our normal names so i may have meet a few forum people and not even known it.
i know i did meet "fastfreddygaskit" tho, as he asked me if i was on the forum when we introduced ourselves to each other. he called me a "smartass" too    . i guess it takes one to know one

When one becomes a member, you get a funky name badge to wear with YOUR colour mx5 on it.
Makes remembering names, and resolving names to auscartalk id's easier.
Though, not everyone here is a member and not all members are here.
Which reminds me....I may have to renew...after July

Nah. The thought of 30 rev heads in super fast cars whipping around the mountains at night scares the begeebers out of me. Besides, we raced at Calder the next day. hahahaha. Heard all about the run and it sounded like every one had loads of fun as to be expected with club events.

I know where you're coming from with meeting people. I'm the motorsport contact for the club and speak to people all the time with info. I don't remember names, faces or cars (except when they've posted an impressive time on track). You just smile.

hey sam... i ticked the box saying that i am interested in motorsport events, pleas contact me with more info etc etc, so maybe i will be hearing from you soon.

i am itching to get my little car out on the track. especially once my avo kit is fitted.
i am a total newbie, never done any form of racing before (never even really been into cars until i bought my mx5), but yeah i am really looking forward to it.

I'm guessing you're either Stew, Max or James. I have an email from Bill and I'll be in touch soon. Feel free to call me though at any time for Vic motorsport info.

Hi
Is there a thread or any info about club racing/track days?
To be honest i would be more interested to join the club only to do the track days etc. i have a harness and roll bar so far and i think i need a fire extinguisher in arms reach. I'm not sure if you need a proper race suit, i have one from karting if you do require it and of course a helmet.

Cheers
Glen

Glen

You sound like you're about 14/10ths  of the way there. I joined and am still a member for the same reason. Motorsport and Cams affiliation. I don't bother with the country runs as I live in Geelong and it's always too far to the start and finish. The speed limits aren't all that attractive either.

We do 10 rounds a year and really is very relaxed with a great bunch of people. I can only suggest to you to save as much as you can on mods and spend it all on going around in circles really fast.

http://www.mx5vic.org.au/motorsport.asp

Have a good look through the motorsport part of the website. Under \"what you need\" there are a couple of items out of date. The Cams License is now cheaper and an extinguisher in a road registered car last 6 years.

The next event is a double at Winton. Driver training on the Saturday, a sure way to get that accellerated learning curve and sprint on the Sunday.

Give me a call anytime if you have questions.

(sorry to highjack the thread)
