The Toyo T1R sound like the go but i've also read they don't stand up to track work punishment. But very good grip for a normal street tyre.

Go the Toyo T1R.
As for standing up to track work, mine seem to be holding up pretty well after 2 Wakefield sessions and about 8k on the road, which includes a few runs up the Putty.
We tick around Wakefield in low 1.17's, which is pretty respectable on street rubber in a standard car. On the road the T1R's are extreemly responsive, excellent turn in and predictable drift at the extreem, directional changes are precise and I really don't give a hoot about wear rate.

PP2s = Michelin Pilot Preceda 2's so you might wanna recount your votes. They are a sporty tyre developed for and sold only in the Asian market.

For what it's worth, I've now done 1000km or so on the PP2s and they're certainly a quieter, more comfortable tyre (both attributes quite low on my list of priorities), but certainly don't corner as well as the Yoko ES100's during the first 2/3 of their life. Much more inclined to let go around a roundabout in the dry.

They aren't as grippy under brakes, either, but beat the ES100's hands down under acceleration. All this in the dry, not much rain down here recently, but the ES100s were glorious in the wet.

Overall, I'm reasonably happy with the precedas though.

Anyone using Kumho KU31's?? Guy in store recommends them over the Toyo T1R and PP2's??

Also cheap...$165, compared to $169 Toyo and and $219 PP2's.

I'm using the Kumho V70A which are supposibly a replacement for the KU31s. Same as the Lotus boys used to use. Very very happy with them so far, basically close to an R spec compound with a streetable tread pattern.

I don't think so. The KU31 is fairly new on the market, only being out for the last 12 months.

That might be it then. I had some R888s on the car a couple of weeks ago which howled like a bugger. The V70A is a reasonably quiet tyre by comparision (makes a little noise on some surfaces which you can only really hear with the roof up and stereo down).

Grip wise I would say the R888s are probably slightly grippier, but what little there was in it could be down to tyre pressures.

The Eagle F1's seem to quite popular with most of the tyre suppliers i've been to.. They're about $180 per tyre.. How much are the Toyo's for the full set?
