Solid State Relay - Fuel Pump Control

Postby Magpie » Fri Apr 07, 2017 8:25 am

Thinking about the next possible change to the fuel system to reduce the fuel getting too hot.

More of a metal discussion than an actual modification...

Is it possible to use the ECU (PS1000) to control the fuel pump(s) so when at idle they just 'tick' over?

My understanding is that I could wire up the surge tank & in tank pumps to separate SSR's and then use DPO's to control the SSR's. I would then use a generic table to control the pumps?

Jay car sell some SSR's that would also need to have heat sinks as the amount of amps that they can handle drops off significantly as they heat up (100 amp up 35°and 28 amp at 80°).

Received a well timed email http://www.williamsraceservices.com.au/heat-protection/, whilst this stuff is expensive it maybe perfect for use on the underside of the boot.

Ps1000 will ground the relays when its turned off.

That sucks.

Can manage that by using a relay to the switched power supply, that way even if the relay is grounded there will be no power to it.

Fixed the link.

No doubt nitrodann will leap in and correct me but I seem to remember, when I was experiencing what I thought was fuel surge, he suggested sequential fuel pumps with a surge tank, and that the PS1000 could control multiple pumps, perhaps leaving a little one running alone for low load and a bigger one for only when needed.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)
