He was playing chicken and was willing/did yield.

No harm no foul.

Thanks mate :D , happy that I could get right on the 1 lap pace straight away, just need to work on the consistency, but that will come with time in the seat

I know from talking to Dad and driving the car there is still a heap of potential left in the car though. All things considered this is the 1st engine combination thats been tried in the car, the quickest NAs/NBs that are around are very quick but that is after many years of development. Heres hoping theres plenty of time left under the hood.

The other thing to consider with this particular NC, its a bit of a cheap half built car that was bought to start developing some pace out of the NC, for example, we weighed it after the driver race at the CUE 1 hour at PI last November and it was shocking to see that it was heavier than a turbo NB... like around 1300KG with driver!!!... so I think when I have time Dad is going to get me on the tools to put her on a bit of a diet... it wasn't really race car spec when we got it, just had a cage and then Dad did the engine, fixed the brakes & made it handle a bit.

So in this spec Dad did a 1:07 flat at a challenge round last year out of the box when the track was a bit quicker, so theres definitely a chunk of time in it.

Well...thing is do the same mods to an NC that are done on my NA and it'll be easy 1.10s
For my NA to get into 10s it'll take a fair bit of money, and maybe that money could be put towards an NC.

However I'm still enjoying racing my NA even though I'm down the grid!

For the price the older ones are still quicker for the money u spend.

my na 1.8 done 1.10's stock engine with standard ecu, extractors, intake, exhaust, standard clubman bilstein shocks and kingsprings. Swaybars are heavier duty, weight taken out and good brake pads.
An nc is relativly quick out the box but to have a true fast nc alot of weight needs to be removed. To get one to be half decent around the track u wont get much change out of 20k. Plus u need the series 2 nc as series one had cast cranksafts series 2 has a forged one.
Lots of things to consider. 1.07 is a great time for an nc and it will only get quicker. Be good to see how reliable it will be. Also theres rumor of a supercharged version which would probably make it unbeatable lol. Our turbo car only done a best of 1.06.8 on semis. Slicks should see 2 seconds, and the boost is turned up for the wakefield 300 so be interesting to see what time it can do. 197rwk

My car cost about 6k to build it.

I wouldn't say your engine is stock, you have rebuilt it Matt!
That's gotta assist in a way. Mine is all standard original pistons rings etc etc

I'm tempted to get cams and a retune this year to give me just a bit more ommmph!
