I've have a set of 185/60/14 and I'm currently using 195/50/15 RE001's.

I've never had issues with them in the wet or the dry. They're not as good in the dry as the Yoko A048's I was running previously but they're a heap better than many other tyres I've used in the wet.

I drove 400km last Sunday night through the big downpour and I had more problems with the rain getting in past my window seals than I did with traction to the road.

I've done plenty of hard driving on them including the recent motorkhana and I've had no issues with the tread etc etc.

Sydney has seen rain this week and my RE001’s (with 20,000 onboard and little wear) are testing my driving skills in a straight line. For those that know, South Dowling Street at Moore Park is gun barrel straight, yet on Wednesday the rear wants to overtake the front under mild acceleration on the damp road. No pleasant with other cars in front, beside and behind me.

A friend with an NB8B fitted with Jap made RE001’s and 33,000 onboard, cried enough the other week with the poor (he said dangerous) wet weather grip and bought some PP2’s. He noticed improved ride and noise even running the tyres at 36psi.

I’m just hoping that the hillclimb at NatMeet isn’t wet, otherwise…….it doesn’t bear thinking about.

I'm quite surprised at the varied experiences with these tyres. Both sets I have had fitted to my MX5 have been rock solid, wet and dry.

When I got my alignment I got some quotes for rubber for me enekis 215 40 r 17 (Im unsure but is this also the same size for the NC wheels?)

I got a set of RE001 in 185/60/14 on my NA just last week. Went for run down to the south coast yesterday in the dry, came home today in the rain. 150km each way with plenty of twisty bits. Easily the best tyres I've had on my car in either dry or wet.

Out of interest Joe, did you get the Aussie or Jap RE001s? With the Bridgestone factory here closing soon, I'm wondering when they'll change over.

Jules has been a busy boy doing lots of worky and now has extra funds coming in (although still no bloody time).

I've been looking at 195/50/15
PP2's: $215 a corner..yikes. (Recommended by AJ)
S-Drives: $176 a corner. (Recommender by UA)

Has anyone recently seen them cheaper?

Bob jane had 195/50/15 Kumho KU31 on special for $99 fitted and balanced recently. Not sure if its still available.

I would assume 14" drennies purchased from Australian would be Australian, they indicate on the website where they are manufactured.

Yep, the 14" Adrenalins I bought a couple weeks ago were Aussie made. Looks like they still have a backlog to get through. No complaints for $120 each.

Sounds about right mate. I got my first set of PP2's a few years ago for approx $185 a corner, so $215 in this day and age is to be expected. Ask SPy where he got his from, I know he did a lot of hunting for the bestest price last year...

PP2s $152 a corner down here in mid '07 for 195/50/15 & that was a good price at the time.
