Oh Noes! I hear a knocking noise!
Well I decided to install the Carbing REAR Strut brace myself didn't I! I thought, 4 bolts, what the hell? How hard could it be? SO anyway I went ahead and started and now I've finished, i'm happy with the difference its made, but I now here a knocking noise!
So I unbolted just the bar from the towers that join the top of the suspension towers and it still does it, so I connected the actual bar back and still no good obviously.
Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

I assume you checked that the 3 nuts on top of each shock assembly were tight? The 2 holding the top hat to the car and the 3rd holding the shock to the top hat? It'd be pretty hard to stuff things up just undoing the 2 top hat nuts and fitting the brackets I would have thought.

I have Tein Coils installed onto the standard shocks. The knock sounds like metal knocking onto something, Originally I thought it was the actual strut bar hitting the fuel tank but I checked it and it never moves. It's a knock that only happens when the car goes up things like driveways on a diagonal angle.

I have one of this I remember angle grinding something.
I think there is some metal near the fuel tank and make sure it doesnt hit any of the fuel pipes on the passenger side of the car...
I can go have a look later i dont have trim in the boot...

Lol, cheers mate, I took all mine out aswell!
I know its not hitting the fuel tank because I took the bar itself off and just left the two towers bolted in by themselves, lol this problem is very annoying

Try taking the brace off and listen if the knocking is still there.
If so, your coilovers could be loose at the tophats maybe? i dunno. If not then it has something to do with the brace.

I'll give that a go today, weather seems nice in meblourne (for once). It was a pain in the a*#s to fit it before because I only have a half inch drive (I might go to repco today and purchase a 1/4inch set), lol. but I'll pull everything off again, i'll check the tophats, but I never touched them, so they shoudln't be loose

Okay, still can't find the bloody noise, I've taken the Strut brace off, and gone for a drive, still makes the same sound, I put it back on, tried again, same noise. So I thought because I put new swaybars in on the weekend I'd take them off and then re-tighten them, nothing seems to be making a difference, I have only the bolt necessary for the work that has been done. It's as if because I put all this extra stuff on and its braced everything, its put strain on something else and now there's a knocking noise. Maybe i'll try tightening all the bracing bolts on the chassis.
Anybody have any other idea's?
Cheers

Alright, so after much investigation (more swearing than anything else) I worked it out, when I put the swaybars in, I took off those little yellow bushes with clamps on them (picture below), and forgot to put them back on once the bar was installed
. Once I put them back on, NO NOISE! Yay! Win!

So I guess I've learn't I'm an idiot lol, but the problem is gone so I'm happy!
Beer time!
Cheers

Knock is back! Those little clamping bushes moved, should I glue them onto the bar?

Good luck getting a glue that will stick. You could try hose clamps to hold the bushes in place. My bars didn't come with those sexy yellow bushes so I ended up making something up myself using hose clamps and some rubber tubing. Seems to do the job as they haven't moved in 130,000km
