Book Sunday night so we can get off chops and drive back monday as it would be un-australian not to get drunk the night before a public holiday. What would the Queen think if we didn't have a few on her Birthday eve?

I too, would like to know the requirements for the Regularity. It seems you need a standard road car, whatever that is.
Am not prepared to book in Warwick till I know I can be accepted as being regular, which will probably never happen ( on so many different levels)

And what CAMS licence is needed for racing events (as opposed to regularity)...?

I am not 100 % sure but i would assume that
any road registrable car would be fine for regularity
and a provisional circuit lisence would be required for the racing

You'll be fine Jeff. Who has a completely standard MX5? We want the biggest turn out possible, so people will not be knocked back who are licenced ect. I'll fine out which licence is required for regularity, but I'd assume a 2S.

From CAMS website:
So 2S for regularity. Cost is $95 as per THIS FORM.
PC Licence only covers State Championships. You can upgrade to an NC licence for a single meeting for $75 (FORM) from PCC licence (Provisional Clubman Circuit $245) or CC licence (Clubman Circuit $245). Not sure about those currently holding a PC licence. I've just asked Brian what is needed. If it is listed with CAMS as a National event then National licences will be needed.
The MX5 Club of QLD is a CAMS affiliated club; if anyone needs a licence you'll also need to be a member of an affiliated club.

'Non-race speed events' include hillclimbs, autocross, single car and multi-car sprints and regularity trials
+ regularity trials up to National Championship
+ touring road events, including non-race speed sub-events, but not including closed road sections, up to International level

I'm 99.9% sure a 2s licence will cover you for regularity but for racing you will need the full licence ($395 plus medical) You would be able to run on the provisional as Fish stated.
Regularity rules from the Cams web site.

Righto, here you go:
MX5 National Championships Regularity
June 6th, 7th Morgan Park Warwick, Queensland
The MX5 National Championships was an idea spawned from Queensland to be an annual event with NSW and QLD alternating as hosts each year. We recognised there were probably over 100 racing MX5's in Australia and many more doing track days etc. Even though we already have club championships, the idea of a National championship, similar to many other classes, had merit. We wanted to involve as many competitors as possible so the idea of National regularity championship would provide this. It is also a test of skill, not just speed so all competitors have an equal chance of winning.
The event will be held at Morgan Park, Warwick on the granite belt 160km West of Brisbane. We also hope to have the new extensions completed which will mean the track is nearly 4km long.
How many events we get will depend on how many MX5’s enter. The more entries, the less other classes need to be invited and the more track time we get. We are pretty sure nonetheless that you will get far more track time than you would normally expect. The track will also be available for private practice all day Friday
Entries fees have yet to be decided but for regularity will be no more than $250 and hopefully less.
You will need a minimum of a CAMS 2S licence. You can get this by going to the CAMS website www.cams.com.au then to licensing competitors and follow the prompts to download the licence application.
The regularities will be run with about 20 cars on the track at a time. As we are encouraging first timers and perhaps wives and girlfriends to have a go, they will be very well controlled. We intend to have (subject to sup regs being approved) a 30% maximum variation between an average of the 3 slowest nominated times and fastest nominated times and a 10% faster allowable variation between nominated time and actual time. The first breakout will be a warning and the second, exclusion. We don’t want to be draconian but we do want everybody to have fun.
We also wanted to make it a fun social weekend, hence the various non competitive trophies and the restaurant night.
