I run about 32psi in the 15\" T1-Rs on our NB8A
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It will ride like a cart at anything over 40psi. I run 30 all round cold, goes up to 32-34 hot. Side walls are very narrow so they don't roll around much at normal driving speeds. I would run 36 hot on the track... but these haven't made it there yet.

interesting Fleery. I have fairly stiff suspension - Konis and Kings on mine, and they are certainly not 'squishy' at 30 psi. I wonder if you are actually going a bit quicker than the Turanzas allowed and feeling either inadequate or worn stock suspension?

Just put a set of T1-Rs on the NC.

I procrastinated about them or the Michelin PP2s. There was absolutely no difference in price - $250 a corner. In the end I decided to go the Toyos hoping they would last better with the odd track day that I do. Mind you the PP1s lasted 30K plus 6 track days so they were pretty good.

After just a week on them I’ve found that they are softer in ride than the OEM Michelin PP1s. They are just as quite, but and it is a big BUT, they seem sloppy.
I know that people will say wait till the mould release is worn off but this isn’t slipperiness it’s slow reaction to steering inputs.

I’m running 32psi, 10% higher than the recommended pressure, so if I go higher I will be trading off grip for response.

I’ve yet to really try out the grip so I’ll reserve my final opinion till after I really break then in at Wakefield in March.

Fingers crossed that they hang on better than the Michelins otherwise it’s an expensive mistake.

CB, I found the same thing when I first got my tyres. They weren't overly slippery to start with but the were very squishy with their response. This seems to have gone away to a major extent with a few good runs on them.

I have taken some good fun runs on them but I look forward to giving them an absolute thrashing somewhere to see it they firm up even more.

BTW I'm running 36psi cold. Haven't played around with pressures yet but when I'm feeling a bit less lazy I might get out and do it.

Made in Japan is the important one, means they aren't the crap imports from China. The date is a 4 digit number on the tyres sidewall, from memory it flat and oval where the numbers are, not hugely important unless they were old stock but I doubt that as most tyre place ran out as Toyo didn't order enough for the anticipated demand last year!

I now have some K on my TR1's, come to think about it I have no idea how many, but!

First track day, they had about 200k's on them, found them a bit squishy, but got that under control by reducing pressure, high 17's.

Second track day, maybe a couple of thousand K's, far better, but still with lower pressures, very low 17's

As for on the road, my best comparison is GPSS, those who know it, will get this. They are pretty close to DJ01's, R888's, RA1's at 5am. I love 'em, by far the best road rubber I have fitted to an MX!!

CB, I am sure you will find the GROOVE, and when you do

Well the jury is still out on these tyres after a very hot day at Wakefield. Everyone was slower than their best times by between 1 & 2 seconds, with the NC at the 2 second mark. So I really can’t tell yet if they match the Michelin Precedas.

What I did notice was that the tyres were very predictable once the car was turning in the corner. By that I mean that you turn the wheel and then ..........wait........ for them to respond. No instant turn in on these puppies. You need to adjust your driving to suit. Set the car for the corner, turn before you normally would so by the time the tyre reacts you are on the right line for the corner. Once there they hung on well, were predictable and allowed good adjustment mid corner if required.

On the hill climb section that has a lot of 1 & 2nd gear work and on the main circuit onto the straight, there was a lot of wheel spin out of the corners, even with the LSD. So getting the power down and drive out of the corner was a problem as I needed to feather the throttle to get them to grip.

So there you have it. Due to the hot conditions it wasn’t a fair comparison but two seconds is a long way to make up around Wakefield.

For the road however they are fine. You still notice the turn in problem but obviously it isn’t quite as critical as when you are driving at 10/10ths.

For the NC owners I think that I would stick to the Michelins as they match the suspension better than the T1-Rs, but that’s just my opinion.

Hmmm - I've got a good 25000ks on mine now, and have to say they are much better than the P-Zero Neros all through their life. I haven't had them on the track, however they are very progressive and seem to get better with age (and of course a lower tread profile). Not sure why you would have traction troubles CB - give them time is all I can say.
They handle the 160+ kWs my car is making admirably, and I definitely have better \"launch capability\" because of them... just give them time. (Of course I haven't had the Miche's on to compare them too - they may just be in a class of their own... maybe next time if the price difference isn't too great!)

As with CB, 1.5 seconds behind my best times at Wakefield on a pretty testing day.

But for the road, these tyres are sensational, very predictable, turn in is a tad slow, but you can easily adjust to this and it is a very minor sacrafice for the grip levels you will experience. And at the very edge of the fun curve, you will get a tap on the hands.

Excellent wet grip levels.

Very few $$$

= Exceptional value.

As with all things, enjoy within you capabilities.
