Is there harm in just putting the vinyl numbers on the car doors?

Thanks Guys! Ended up ordering a couple of A3 sized car door magnets from Vistaprint.com.au for $40 posted. You can pick the size, font, style, and even add some extra text. Anyone who wants to do the same, enter the coupon code WELOVEVP on checkout for a 30% discount.

Polish the doors first. Only harm is if you leave them on from different 'fading', and from cops harassing you possibly.

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
Only very mild financial harm. Stick-on numbers cost $2-3 each and they can't be re-used, so each track day costs another $10 or so but you can get 3 or 4 years out of a set if they permanently on a magnetic sheet. In any case it's a lot quicker and easier to stick the magnetic sheet on the door.LuckyCat wrote:Is there harm in just putting the vinyl numbers on the car doors?

Apart from the race numbers and battery (blue triangle), are any of these a requirement for class 2B?

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
No. Below are the requirements of the car (separate requirements of the driver re safety). But they set you up for Cams racing events if required. Not clear to me whether the tow hook sticker is required if your hooks are visible - BUT I would put stickers on for them anyway so the towies don't whack the hook onto something else
, they are usually in a hurry if they are towing you at the track.

Thanks Joel. 136 registered!? How is this going to work, and still leave room for non-registered entries? I know there will always be some registered people who will not do all the rounds, some perhaps will only do a few (or even none), but still ...

What happened last year, were there as many registered for the c'ship?

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
112 registered at the start of last year, though the field size varied depending on the track and who was running the event.
Round 1 had 56 cars at Wakefield, Round 4 at EC had 64 entrants. Obviously there were more cars than this at the track as the clubs running the event had their member's cars attending.
If you look at my class, 2B (10 registered entrants) round by round, R1 WP - 5 cars, R2 ECN - 1 car, R3 WP - 6 cars, R4 ECM - 3 cars, R5 ECE - 3 cars, R6 WP - 2 cars, R7 ECS - 3 cars, R8 ECN - 7 cars. So there was only 37% participation from the entrants.
ECN is generally shunned ( 2 straights and 6 corners) though in the last round the call went out from the Club to help as we needed points to win the championship.
The previous year we had 100 cars turn up for EC. Last year one round was cancelled when it became obvious that people weren’t spending their money.

Re: 2013 NSW Supersprint Championship
Thanks CB, that is interesting. I wonder if some clubs are beating the bushes to get registrations for their clubs, but they get a lot of people who are not committed and do not follow through.
I guess the 'take home' is to get your entry in during the 'registrants first' period, rather than leaving it to the last minute, in case the round is oversubscibed.

You're a bit mixed up there Phil. The championship itself was eight rounds in 2012 compared to nine rounds in 2011, but there were no cancellations. The last round in 2011 was actually the Australian Supersprint Titles and was also counted as a round of the NSW Championship. It was planned to have the NSW Supersprint presentation for 2011 at SMP South early in 2012, but the event was cancelled because the track was not ready in time. Instead the presentation was held at ARDC Garage after Round 2 on 21st April (SMP North). The only other cancellations I'm aware of was the Interclub event at SMP South on 14th April and our own club trackday at SMP South on 12th May ... both were cancelled because the track wasn't finished.

That sends the wrong message - it just supports what ARDC and NSWRRC are doing. A better approach is simply to boycott the worst offenders. NSWRRC charging us $245 for SMP North last year was an appalling gouge, even for their own members who received a $20 discount. Only two weeks later, I paid $185 for the CSCA Supersprint on SMP North - but also including free garage usage, and it was a more efficiently run event.Better yet it might be worth bringing up with the Super Sprint panel.
It has been raised. We'll see what the entry fees are like this year, and then raise it again if necessary.
I was looking at the ARDC membership page since I live so close to SMSP and read this.
members also recieve a 10% discount on entry fees to Super Sprints.
So gonna be much the same thing this year again. And they cannot spell receive, so they should not get a 10% discount.
Oh and they don't offer the free track day anymore. It is now 50% off, ie $150.
I am considering joining them since I can take advantage of all the free race events.
Just gotta check if I can get the 10% discount while entering as the MX5 Club of NSW to Super Sprints, if not, that's a deal breaker.

Well worth joining Luke.
The 10% discount on all the SS rounds at EC will pay for your membership and the free entries for you and a friend is well worthwhile as is access to the roof area.
