I've been watching this on another forum I'm on and it looks like a whole heap of fun.

We could have a real shot, especially on the time attack stages. I think we should field some entrants.

On reading the rules it doesn't look like an NB would have any chance at all. Rules say fastest lap on the day wins, no classes, no restrictions, you could be up against a fully prepared V8 super car. Then you have a cost of $200 entry for this one event, you have be in position and wait at least 3 1/2 hours before it even starts, if you leave the track and hit the fence YOU have to pay for it. Doesn't sound too much like fun to me.

While I agree that an MX5 could have it's hands full, I wouldn't say it's completely out of the question.

2) The event is designed for entry by performance and high performance vehicles. There will be 2 classes each with sub classes of FWD, RWD and 4WD vehicles

a) Pro class – for both street registered and unregistered cars. Engines and gearbox’s are free. Suspension pick up points must be in as per the manufactures design. Slicks are not permitted.

b) Street class – for street registered cars only. Each vehicle must retain the original engine and gearbox configuration. Suspension pick up points must be as per the manufactures design. Street legal tyres are only permitted.

3) No Open Wheel vehicles, centre steer or Clubman or Kit cars allowed,

4) All Vehicles must be available for purchase from a major manufacturer currently/previously as a factory OEM vehicle.

5) The event is designed for entry by the following invited online car forums whose drivers are amateur drivers and members of an Australian online car forum community.

~~~
9) Tyres; Street Class- Street legal tyres are only permitted,
All vehicles must run on Tyres with a UTQG rating higher than 120. If the tyres fitted to your vehicle have a UTQG rating under or equal to 120 you may be moved into Pro Class.
Pro class tyres are free except for slicks
Struggling to see the "value" in this!
They claim you get a 3 day general admission ticket included with the entry ($73.50)
$200 for 2 X 10 min sessions (or 2 X 15 min depending on which page you read) on the short track for the time attack.
$150 for 3 X Gymkhana runs (I love the "highly Technical" classification of 2 x 350m slalom and a U turn! don't want people getting lost!)
Most R Spec tyres will probably get you lumped into the Pro Class.
Good luck to those who enter, might catch a glimpse of you on the TV!
Dave was working on his. I know MX5 Mania beat the competition when Auto Salon had a time attack style battle a few years ago.
MX-5s usually do well in Gymkhana and Lee's rotary MX-5 could be a go'er in the drags.
Other members might be keen on the show n shine.
Great to hear you guys are interested, MX5's will do well in this competition. We have forums like OPELAUS who will take out prizes just on sheer numbers of entrants as the point score bias's total entries and participation. Prize pool will be announced next week, so should be good!
There's quite a few known faces in that mix. Might have to go along and have a look considering Daz and SP Bling are entering.
You guys dont think something like Pats na6 would do well in the street car class (capable of 1.07s within the street car class rules)?
Spose r35s would do 1.04s in the same boat huh?
Forum battle wants each and every competitor to be able to go home with a proper Motorsport adrenalin filled day so why not make Forum Battle a full day of racing? Satisfy those track cravings by entering multiple events. Mix it up, Gymkhana and Drags or Rally and Time attack. Plus entering one or more motorsport category gains you free entry to the Show’n’Shine.
By entering multiple events you increase your forums chances of taking out the title of 2012 Forum Battle Outright Winners as well as having a better chance to take home a chunk of the prize pool (prize pool is now valued at around $13,000 with more to be announced). Sponsored cars will also be able to take advantage of the TV / online coverage Forum Battle will be providing.
I want to enter the drags, but I’m not sure if my car meets requirements?
Drag requirements here: http://www.calderpark.com.au/competitor ... acing.aspx
I want to race but I don’t have a CAMS Licence?
We are organising a single day licence with CAMS now so stay tuned…
What Tyres can we use?
Tyre information can be found here: http://forumbattle.com.au/2012/02/02/bu ... clarified/
