Yup, it was slippery. Victor and Deen had just passed, and as I went around the hairpin I felt the back come out slowly so I just kept the power on, countersteered and when I thought the car had straightened and settled I backed off and it just whipped the other way. Made a quick attempt to save it as the tail flicked left and realised there was no point. Full lock, clutch and brake.

My wife's first experience having a spin...we were both thankful we went for that toilet break!

Much like this, Bryan.

Word from the school of hard knocks: Next time, don't try to keep feeding throttle! The slide will just get bigger and harder to catch when it flicks.

Oh and just as the car lightens up at the end of the slide, let go of the steering ... seriously ... it will self-centre and you don't need to countersteer when it flicks back. 8) Check the 3rd clip in this video for an example. Best to practice it on the track!

Mmm...good lessons. Very different driving RWD...I'd love to get some time on a skid pan. Does the club arrange sessions like that?

Also, did anyone get photos from the drive? Could I pinch a couple of shots if anyone has them please?

Thanks for the brilliant run today guys!
APU- I've got a couple of snaps in my car thread in the garage forum, if there is a particular type of photo you're after (car train, scenary, megalong valley car park etc) just let me know.

Hi kris,

Gee...I'd like as many as I can get my filthy little hands on! After my little spin, my wife and I didn't think about taking any photos! Will you be posting any pictures online? If not, a couple of the car train, a bit of scenery and the car park would be great!

Thanks

Bryan

Hi Bryan,
I have 3 resized and compressed pictures from the run in my garage thread here: http://www.mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtop ... 57&t=43276

I will also wait for the instructions as to how to upload more images, which is difficult because the files are large with high resolution.

Its funny how car trains can be quite dangerous events given the number of incidents that regularly occur on them!

Cheers
kris

Great run!
Apart from a small bit of rain when we left Dural, it was top down once the sun was up for the remainder of the day.

Image

I counted 14 NC's too. The first run I've been on where the NC's were the strongest contingent!

Image

Breakkie was good too, and thanks to John we got some good coffee in Leura on the way home too.
Always good to meet some new peeps too. Hello to you all!
Lastly, a massive shout out to Rob for appearing from out of the darkness with a lovely Indian brew, two short blacks were all the fuel I needed.
Delicious!

Just some phone pics for now.
Will post some more pics in my thread once I get around to uploading them.
