Hello,
I have a 94 NA, and want to install an aftermarket headunit.
But, how do you mount any headunit to the mazda \"frame\" ????
None of the holes etc line up.
should i just zip tie it somehow???
thanks

I modified the mazda radio bracket by drilling a couple of holes to match up with the head unit.
Oh, and by the way, assuming you want to install a 1 din head unit and a 1 din cubby holes underneath then get the dash centre from a '97 model as they are designed for the 1 din head units, otherwise you end up with a ugly gap.

I'm using a JVC unit and they lined up for me. No problems installing. But do what Juffa said, drill some holes.

Most decks come with a sleeve that fits into the slot.
You just slot it in, push out the little tabs and the slide the deck in.
Works perfectly for me and no drilling or screwing required.
Of course you need the other little cubby hole to sit the deck onto.
I have been told that the NA models need a 1.5din spacer cubby hole thingo to fit properly. I have the ugly gap. Everyday I look at this and stick my tounge out in disgust.
Installing the deck this way makes it easier for you to pull out if you are constantly changing the way things are wired up (like me), on the flip side, it would make it easier for thieves to steal it, but they usually just yank and pull and rip until things come out rather than paying attention to how its actually put in (I know cos its happened to me)
