Went for my first run down the GOR today. :shock:

Worth the hype, the perfect road and the perfect car for said road

It was a big day as I wanted to do it all including the inland bit which is fantastic. Also worth doing the Skenes Creek/ Forest apollo bay road (the turn off it just before Apollo bay. 32km of virtually deserted, fast twisties. I think I enjoyed that even more than the GOR. On the run up and back I only had one car get in my way (which promptly moved for me

The Great Ocean Road is the most expensive road in the country (for me anyway). Went on a drive on the GOR in early May in a Herztmobile Falcon XR6 with wife and adult daughter.

On the way we saw a TRIUMPH club outing and discussion about what a great road for sports cars, pity the Triumph's were past their prime and, by today's standards, their prime was not so hot anyway. An hour or so later we saw an outing of the Melbourne MAZDA MX-5 club and discussion was re-started about how the Japanese finally made the sports car reliable, well built, better handling - yadda, yadda, yadda \"You should buy one Dad...\".

Result was three weeks later, bought a silver NB8A from Newcastle I spotted on the for sale section of this forum and flew down to drive back to Brisbane. Excellent car.

I know that feeling, I bought mine after having it for a weekend on a test drive.

Pretty much headed straight for the GOR, back in the dealership on monday morning to finalise the deal. :mrgreen:

I agree. I recently followed a couple of bikes through there on the way into Appollo Bay (I was in the Statesman though). Made my missus and kids all sick :lol:
