ND 1.5 Spare wheel

Postby YeahYeahYeah » Thu Feb 04, 2016 10:44 pm

Recently acquired ND 1.5L Roadster with 16 inch rims. No spare wheel. After a bit of research and trial fit ups I have bought a garage spare :) 185/55/15" Mazda 2 mag which clears the caliper and suspension. Offset 45. The 2L, with larger brakes, may take the Mazda 2 Genki 16" mags.

Handy to know for ND owners.

4 could get together and buy a set.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Interesting. I read an article regarding ND and 15 inch wheel was the original design concept.

Wondering if you bought a single wheel as spare or a set of 4?

If it is for a set of 4... I am interested to know how does it drive when compare to standard wheels.

Thank you for sharing

Does the Mazda2 wheel fit in the ND boot? I suspect not.

JBT asks the obvious question- does it fit in the boot- the first post does not say that.

I would assume that the space saver must fit in there, why would someone buy a spare wheel if they needed to keep it at home? (hang on, i'll just pay to have the car towed home to put the spare on!)

As for the full sized wheel, does it really need to fit in the boot? I mean, sure, if it doesnt it would be inconvenient, but as long as it sits in there enough to not slide out (or just carry a bit of rope to hold it down) it would be nothing to drive to the nearest tyre shop for it to be repaired/replaced.
And long distance isn't an issue since you won;t be going that far on a space saver anyway.

sure, it's inconvenient, but so is sitting on the roadside for hours waiting for RACV because you have a flat tyre.

Interesting...I thought that the ND has 4 stud rims - I loaned my NB 4 stud 16's to Frank C. for his 1.5 ND - they went straight on.
Don't all of the other Mazda models have 5 stud rims (like the NC)?
