For street use you don't need particularly good or expensive pads.

I"ve got Axxis brand at the front, and Raysbestos at the rear.
each end cost $20, so $40 to do the whole car.

Anyway, around town they are great, quiet, not much dust, the car stops (probably the most important bit)

On twisty roads with hard braking they do fade easily (basically you get one hard stop every 10mins)

But yeah, around town they are perfect.

It's just a matter of how you use the car.
I bought them purely because my old pads got to wthin 1mm of the backing plate and I needed something fast.

edit:
comments mainly relate to the front pads.
The rears are awesome. I personally don't see a need for anything other than street pads on the rear. (then again, I do Motorkhanas which use the handbrake.... which means I need pads that grab when cold otherwise the rears won't lock)

I got mine from MX5 Centre about 12 months ago.

I know he was in the process of moving shops at that stage, so he may have just been getting rid of old stock?

To be honest, $90 is a good price, even for a pair.

Looks like $30 now

EBC aren't known for their price. Always a little pricey vs their similar oppositon.

The R90s have a friction co of 0.46 and are rated to 450C. So they'll handle some abuse better than Axxiss brands.
Considering brakes run at 300C with normal street driving, don't go abusing the R90s on a hot summers day.

You can get the R90s for just over $82.40 on ebay.
Other el-cheapos (and their are 100s out ther) like suggested above go for $30-$40 in parts shops/ebay/etc.

One of the best pads I have used as far as "bang for buck" goes is the Lucas/TRW pads. I have used them in fast road and some track applications for some time now, and I'm yet to find a better one at the same price.

Retail is around $80-90, they have a temp rating up to 650deg, they are very low dust and have pretty good bite.

Cheers

Hi.
A friend of mine has a na6 and wanted new pads. Bought on ebay front and rear rotors and pads for $175.00 delivered. All fitted and the pads which are only a road pad are excellent. If you are using the car on the road would be the way to go.

very! but then dust doesn't really worry me.
i use rda slotted rotors and lucas/trw pads for street/track, and never had a problem stopping.
car weighs 1160kg and stopping from 180 down to 80kph at lakeside has never been an issue.
nor has stopping when cold either.
good pad for low cost.

dust! dust! dust!

they must have a high friction rating also. cos after 70,000ish km, the pad still has approx 50% of its meat left, but the slots are nearly swipped off the rotors.

Lol, how long since you washed the wheels?? hehe You want to see the QFM K750's I run in my XR8 if you reckon that dust is bad!!!! I don't think the dust from the Lucas/TRW's is any worse than any cheap pad/bendix etc.

The top ANZ rims would've been unwashed for 2 weeks. The bottom MS-01R rims were washed 24hrs earlier, but did just do 30 lap of Lakeside Park in that 24hrs.

Pads come in two forms of me, dusty and very dusty. There is no such thing as low dust.
