Hey,

So whenever I drive over bumps or potholes in the road, the car makes this clicking/rattling noise (near the rear wheels)

I took it to Midas for them to check out the exhuast and they said there was nothing wrong with it.

I took out the spare and the jack which did help but the car still makes the rattling/clicking noise regardless (its just not as loud as before).

Any thoughts? Help would be much appreciated.

I'd suspect that the metal clips that stop the rear brake pads from rattling are worn out.

Put the handbrake on (slightly) and drive over a bump. Does it go away?

Agree with both comments above.

If you have a NB8B then the clips on the brake pads can sound like how you've described.

Otherwise, I've had an experience with loosing one of the bushes of my rear sway bar and that could make the annoying noise as well.

Just be careful you don't over tighten them, I had to replace one of my wishbones after I stripped the captive nut

I'll try these things on the weekend, I have an NA6 btw, but these fixes should be common with all the 5's.

Hey guys,

I read on miata.net that it could be some dirt & rocks stuck behind the brake shields.

So i took out my hose and sprayed water into the brake shield, around and around

And the sound disappeared. So basically it was just some rocks bouncing around everytime i drove. Such an easy fix.
