Hello, where are you. There will be several NCs on the sunday run that have been lowered and you can ask and look then. Regards Paul

Here you go.

This is mine 3 1/2 years ago when it was 4 weeks old. :D

It’s currently 40mm lower, which is OK except when you are loaded up in the boot and have a passenger. Then it’s a touch too low.

Just do it, you know you want to. I had ours lowered by 20mm, then put the standard springs back in and SOME people said I had the 4WD MX5. Soon to be 40 mm lowered. They do look the way they should, when they are lowered by 40 mm. Regards Paul.

Ride quality and clearance under full load. I suspect you'll notice these two things before you feel any dramatic changes in the handling.

Handling worse??? :?

Who said anything about making it worse; it will not only get rid of that horrible NC 4wd stance but will definitely improve handling.

By installing lowering springs from either Kings or Eibach improves the handling by dropping the roll centre and by an 28% increased spring rate.
You will notice the difference immediately in cornering. The ride doesn’t suffer as the spring rate is only marginally stiffer.

The biggest improvement in handling comes from adjustable sway bars. This dramatically reduces the body roll, the car feels more connected to the road and you will feel more difference in the ride compared to just the spring change.

Ideally I would go for a spring that drops the car 30mm. At that height I can see no problems with bottoming out on speed bumps or loading problems.

Mazda shows the NC lowered 30mm in all its printed matter rather than the stock height. I believe that Mazda needed to comply with a higher bonnet line to suit European pedestrian impact laws than the original design intended. Thus the high stance of the vehicle to make it satisfy the requirement.

Fix it by fitting some springs and enjoy the benifit.

Hello MEAN 1, what are they charging you and what are the pedders springs compared to the eibachs or equivalent. Just got my eibachs pro kit which has lowered the car the same as yours will be. It looks so much better, just went for a quick drive and there was no difference between them and the mazdaspeed springs ( in ride quality, actually might be a smoother ride) which only lowered it 15mm all round. Regards Paul.

So I'm assuming you are using pedder springs? if so, I'll just say it straight out- they are sh*t.

Hi Mean 1,

I'd be interested in finding out what your contact at Pedder's considers as "road legal".

The maximum legal limit for NC's is 19mm.
Mazda state that the NC has a ground clearance of 119mm. State road rules say that the minimum ground clearance is 100mm.

As far as I know there is only one spring on the market that complies with this and that's the Racing Beat springs that lower the car 12mm. All the rest are 25mm and up.

So I'd say that 99% of us NC owners with lowered cars are illegal.

Wiinning blue models wouldn't be illegal, but all the other colours would be. Regards Paul.

Why?
Have you used them?
I've used Pedders springs on a couple of cars with no problems one set was as a replacement for a rear set from a well respected manufacturer that sagged.

Hey Lab Ratt, what is the measured height to the bottom of the guard lips?
