i see different items for 'Sport Susp.' and 'Normal Suspension'.

i can see on the door sill sticker it says Sports suspension...whats the difference? rotor sizes?

270mm front rotors and 276mm rear rotors in the sport package. With different calipers to suit. You can tell if you have the sport package by whether your car was post 2001, 6 speed manual and came with 16" rims. All NB8B's came with the sport brakes in Australia. It was an option in the states.

There's actually 8 clips and a tube of silicon grease. Plus 2 extra small clips which I don't know what are for. I'd never opened one of the packets until now. I bought 2 sets a while ago but never ended up needing to change my clips. They might have made a typo on the rear brake page as they've got the rear pads for one year model listed twice with the same part number. You could try emailing them.

Yeah I know your supposed to but I'm on about....wow...my 6th set of front brake pads in about 25,000km's now I think about it (sumitomo's, DS2500's, Hawk HP+ and two sets of DS3000's with a new set arriving this week) . I still havn't needed to replace the clips... that's mostly trackday abuse as well.

I have NB8B with the 270mm front rotor.

I changed my pads with the dealer at 100,000 km with the timing belt at garry warren smith.
They didnt give me new shims or clips!

Now 140,000 km the clips perished on the rear, started to rattle upon initial breaking and breaking on uneven road.

I got oem pads from mx5 parts uk came with all shims and clips. For clips per caliper fifth clip dont know where it go but can still stop without so its unsprung weight savings for me

NA** NB8A and NB8B clips not interchangeable I have tried simply does not fit they are too small. So only way to get clips is from mx5 parts uk, but have to buy the pad to get the clip.

You get shims aswell (goes on the back of the pad) but not need to stop just need for quiet, can get can of spray on break quiet so no need for shim, potential unsprung weight savings

Now 150,000 km I see oem from mx5 parts uk is less dusty than what ever aus mazda dealer gave me but still stop the same so all is good for daily driver.

Dont forget to grease caliper pins while you do it.

Autos got povo brakes & painted NB8A rims, thankfully they only sold 1 auto and the king of wheels (Craig) bought the povo wheels, sold em to JBT who put em on Max, which now lives on the Gold Coast.

As far as pads go, have a read Of Caffeines thread re rebuilding his brakes recently.
