15\" JDM look...how to?

Hi guys,

I've just purchased my first car last week, a red NA6 Apart from a few minor things that needs to be fixed up I'm pretty happy with the way things are. The previous owner had put 17\" Lenso S7 Modify's on the car and down where I live (South Sydney) the roads must be a lot worse than where he is....the car keeps crashing on every little bump and ditch in the road to the point that its becoming unbearable

So, I'm planning to sell them off and get myself a set of 15\" Black Racing Pro N1's in grey for that fat JDM look http://www.arw.co.jp/wheel/blackracing/pro-n1.html

I'm a total beginner and so was wondering if I can get some advice on:

1. Where can I buy them from? Looked at many places, no luck so far....
2. What wheel width, offset, etc should I be looking at?
3. What tyre width? 195 or 205?
4. Are there aftermarket alloys that are just not meant to be put onto a RWD car due to different offsets from FWD? What are ideal offsets for a RWD?
5. What tyre height/thickness should I be looking at?

195/50/15 on a 15x7 wheel will look good and fit
about a +45 ofset is standard but wont really look dishy.

+30 to +20 is what you want
youll probly have to lip your guards.

Welcome deez! And well done on your purchase! The 50 is the profile of the tyre, it means that the "height" of the tyre - from rim to outer edge - will be 50% of the width (195), and the 15 is your rim in inches...

+45 is factory, and I have no idea what you can run without having to roll the guards sorry...

I think I know what I'm after now...a +30 offset since the rims are smaller than slugoids and the suspension isnt really lowered.

Has anyone tried or have seen someone using 205 tyres on an NA6? Seems that most people on the forum recommend using 195 instead. Is 205 a bad thing for a NA6?

Don't be scared of rolling your guards...if you want the wheels to be pushed right out to the edges of the guards, it's necessary. +30 offset on a 6.5in rim won't be very dished at all.

Yes, +15 offset and yes it's got rolled guards. You can actually see in that pic that the rear wheelarch lip is folded up, startng from just above the beltline.

...and it's an NA8 BTW

No rubbing at all, not even drifting at track speed when you get onto lots of opposite lock.

Interesting....makes me think again how far out wide I can go with the offset thing without rolling the guards (cost issue really....I'm broke as it is without having to do body mods

Guard rolling isn't expensive....I paid $25 per guard, but make sure the guy who does it is good tho...I've had jobs on other cars done which were shockingly poor.

Generally speaking, on an NA you have a bit less room under the guards than you have an an NB. With guard rolling the max you can go is +14 with a 6.5in wide rim and +20 with a 7in rim. With 8inches, by rights +32 might be doable, but then you might have some clearance issues on the inside of the wheel

Actually no...the guy did a great job on my MX5, took his time, got each side looking the same, etc, but when I took my other car to him, he was in a hurry, started bashing the guard with a hammer, etc

So yeah, if you find a good place to get it done, let me know, I'm on the lookout too

thats only because its running the 4x4 suspension.
damn dish looks sexy though..

15x7's will be fine i'd go 205... the wider you go the better it looks. 215 would be widest legal and prolly in my opinion best looking.

i did run 225's looked great felt bouncy and squirmy. but couldnt damage my rims even if i tried and looked PHAT as!!

it really depends what look your after.. you can go narrow ruber to get the drifto look where the sidewalls tapper in wards slightly.
or like i tend to go the phatt racey look with the widest rubber you can get on to small diameter rims.

as far as i know with legality its basical 1inch wider max width, rolling diameter (not rim dia) and 50mm wider track (1 inch a side offset sorta kinda)
