just wondering if there is any reason not to use different tyres on the front than on the back? maybe some grippy ones on the front and some slipperier ones on the back.. seems like a could be a good recipe for some fun :D

seems a stupid question maybe, but it doesn't hurt to ask before i spend the money

hmm, ok. well i was thinking of getting a pair of yokohama c drive - 205 45 r16's for the front. i got new rears not long ago, not that happy with them, so thought i'd try something different.

some good tyres is better than no god tyres!!!

aslong as you keep the good tyres on the front your fine. an mx5 with its ass shaking about is easy to control

I am currently running different tyres front/back.

Havent really had any problems. Just don't try to be a hero.

Better if they are similar class/grip levels.

Just be careful at the limit, unexpected things might happen

plus mazda did design the car to run on 4 same tyres.

gone are the days of the ol Falcon GT & others where the fronts were thin & rears were wide
