NA6 Caliper same as NA8?

Postby mr_rotary » Sun Mar 25, 2007 6:03 pm

I am in the process of doing the NA8 front brake upgrade to my NA6. I have read elsewhere when doing the upgrade, only the brake disc is upgraded and they use the existing NA6 brake caliper.

I have a set of NA8 calipers, brackets and discs and have purchased a set of NA8 brake pads to fit the NA8 calipers. This morning I measured it all up and have found the NA8 brake pads easily fit into the NA6 brake calipers!

Is the NA6 caliper the same as the NA8 caliper? Should I swap them over or not?

Are you sure about that STM? The NA8 has different pads.

That's what I thought but I had to ask in case 8)

With upgrading the pads, I do not have the anti-sqeal plates that go on the back of the NA8 pads (NA6 do not fit without bending the pads). I have a parts manual and it seems Mazda do not sell these seperately.

Are they necessary or can I do without them? I am installing Bendix Ultimate pads.

If Mazda do sell them seperately, what is the part No. for an NA8?

The NA6 calipers fit the na8 brackets and as noted by others this moves the caliper further (10mm) from the centre of the hub thus allowing fitment of the larger NA8 rotors. The NA8 bracket also holds the larger NA8 pads. I believe this upgrade is a safety essential for all NA6s. I've done this very upgrade twice.
I hope this clarifies topic.
