Hi Nich,

The best people in this case would be to speak with the consumer affairs people in your state.
Make sure you log every call/email or correspondence that you have with the mechanic detailing down to date, time and what was discussed.

Something like this had happened with a mate a PC he bought from a big retailer, he had a long dialogue with the retailer which didn't get sorted out in the manner that he had wanted and now he has gotten the total amount of the original purchase back.

But you do need to show that you have tried on multiple occasions to get the error fixed by amicable means with the vendor with no satisfactory conclusion.

I don't quite understand, the difference between na and nb shocklength is minimal and with coilovers you have a great difference in height adjustment. perhaps your rear shocks aren't even for an mx5. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i an converting my na to nb suspension at the moment using nb top hats because nb shocks are slightly longer than na shocks. in my mind if they had installed na coilovers instead of nb, your car should sit lower. but as i say if i'm wrong someone please hit me with the idiot stick and put me right.

Is the issue with the shock body length or the spring length? You can always fit new (shorter) springs, they should be standard sized for most coilovers.

If the shock body is too long, that's a different story - to check this (properly), remove the spring and reinstall the shock and bumpstop, then jack up the suspension arm until it lifts off your stands. Ideally, it should lift off just before the control arm contacts the chassis.

Or you can just compare the shock body length to the OEM shocks...

As someone said, NA shocks are shorter than NB.

OR ... take a look for the product number on the spring and shock, that will tell you which they have fitted without any guess work.

what okibi said. check for the product number, and cross reference with their website/dealer.

Also make sure they didn't put the front springs on the rear, the car will sit higher.

The springs have the same diameter and will fit in the shock platforms.

If the coilovers came disassembled they may have just put the springs/shock on back to front.

(Don't ask me how i know) :oops:
