Price check SUPERPRO Bush Kit $400??

$400 for a superpro bush kit is this about the right price? Also is this a complete kit the list seems a bit short??

Those who do have them how are you finding them now? Do they need to be greased regularly are they squeeky is the ride still firm??

Where can I find that big C clamp or when is the next doggy day??

The list of parts on the linked site seems to cover everything. The only bits missing are sway bar bushes. They are not necessary unless your current ones are worn and allowing too much movement.

I have replaced the bushes in each of the 3 MX-5s that I have owned. It is one of the best improvements you can make. I bought mine through a suspension shop on Felmington road and they cost a lot more than N*Power is selling them for.

The C clamp and other tools required are available for members of the Victorian MX-5 Club. If you are member get in contact with them and they will let you know how to get the tools.

If I was to do it again I'd go OEM. With polyurathane bushes on sawys & likn ends only.

I find them way too harsh. I also run konis & kings with shortened bump stops

I've had them on the car for about 6-8 mths....so no squeeking issues yet.

agreed. I didn't find them hars, and they only started squeaking very slightly after a couple of years. For me the issue was that (if not lubricated often) they will get sticky and lose their free movement.

It was a ride in Matty's car that decided me to get them. Nessy had 299,000km on it at the time and felt like new.

I've had mine for a year now. Apart from a tolerable increase in NVH it still feels damn good.

yeah i thought the increase in NVH was tolerable as well. but, then i moved to coburg . the roads here are abysmal and it's really giving me the shits big time.

Mine was super low at the front. I've raised the front by about 12mm. I may have been riding on the bump stops. I've not had the chance to drive it a lot since.

I'll wait & see. I can't afford another suspension job. certainly not before the paint job. But maybe I'll just replace specific bushes to soften the ride a little. Or change springs. not sure yet. But that should probably be in a separate thread.

As you can see you will get different opinions. $400 for the kit is a pretty good price. I think i paid $560 in a group buy last year. OEM bushes will work out at 800-900. and only seriously last 150k km

I think it would be fair to say that the super pros certainly improve the ride over bumps.
In my case, I'm having a midlife crisis. I've become a ricer because i really like the look of the dumped MX5 and I'm happy to compromise the ride
see If i had started counting backwards when i turned 30 I'd be right on 19 YO now.

so most likely reason for my negative judgment is because I've become a ricer in my old age but now have to face the fact that my ride hight is my dilemma.

Even if i can make Patchy ride like Nessy by raising my suspension. It will still be to harsh for me. So get involved with the Vic club. maybe someone who has fitted the super pros will take you for a ride & you canmake your own judgment.

That's because Koni's don't have bump force adjustment, only rebound. So even if you set it on full soft you still get the same bump, or compression, dampening. Stuff like Tein SS/Flex have adjustment that affect both bump and rebound forces.

It's funny how things go around in this forum. Last I heard Nessy was sitting on my old NA8 springs, new OEM bump stops and KYB AGX shocks.

I see a lot of people adivse the superpro bushes need to be re greased every 12 months.

1 How is this service done?

2 What kinda grease do I use?

(something tells me it aint goin to be a 1 min job with a can of WD40)

good question. i've been eyeing the superpros myself but am concerned with the reports of the need for regular lubrication.

does the suspension need to be removed from the car for lubrication? is it possible to just give all the bushings a good squirt of silicon lubricant at every oil change?
