My NC is getting close to 200,000km and I'm looking at replacing the fuel pump/filter. Whilst I'm not currently having any problems I'm not sure if the previous owner had it replaced, and I'd rather replace it preemptively then wait for something to go wrong and spend a week scrambling for parts.

I'm largely following this guide:

However i have a few questions before I start.

1) The guide states that you should use the Mazda quick release fuel line tool. The service manual instructs you to use either the SST 49 E042 001 or 49 N013 103A, but I cannot find information on either. Going off the diagram in the service manual, the SST 49 E042 001 seems to be a tool similar to this: ebay fuel line disconnect pliars Can anyone shed some light on this?

2) I'd like to have some replacement fuel line quick connect clips handy. Can anyone point out to me which ones are suitable?

The fuel line on the pump assembly requires a tool to slip underneath the locking clips to push them out away from the fitting to free them, not compress them like other quick release fittings in the engine bay.
I've performed this procedure three times using a cheap fuel line disconnect tool which can be bought from repco/supercheap/others for ~$10. (see attached)
It's not quite the right size, but doing one side of the clip at a time while applying a small amount of tension to the connector makes it a breeze.
If you find the right disconnect tool, great, but the cheap one above does the job just fine.

2) I'd like to have some replacement fuel line quick connect clips handy. Can anyone point out to me which ones are suitable?
No need. Just take you time, and I doubt you will break them. It's pretty tough.

Also, I believe the screws holding the pump assembly down are JIS, not philips. I have used philips, but you have to apply a lot of downward pressure to avoid camming out.

I just use some bent needle nose pliers and a phillips head screwdriver.
