Recommended by others, I got some DEI Carbon Fibre exhaust wrap (more a coppery colour). It's nice looking stuff, soft and easy to handle. Quality looking stuff.
The bad news. The install video says to wrap it with the knitted edge facing a certain direction. Well, both edges are identical and makes not much difference as one end is still exposed to fraying. The cut ends fray and the whole lot starts to unravel with long strands of string hanging loosely.
I tried to wrap my dump pipe in-situ and it now looks like a straggly loose bandaged mummy. Sorta hoping it blows off on the highway.
I'm gonna go get a refund.
I'm sure other wraps are better and can't be this bad. I see a lot of nice installs.

I've dealt with the normal old fashioned wrap in he past.

I hate it.
It's itchy as hell and like fibreglass house insulation on steroids.

I'd just live with the exhaust heat, or spray it with aluminum paint like they did in the 60s.

At least this stuff is nice and useable with no fibres or itchiness. Shame it's a POS.

Ceramic coating is an option

I don't think you can ceramic coat stainless.
Plus you have to dismantle and send the part off. I'm trying to do it in situ.

Stainless tends to get brittle and crack
Wrapping it will speed that process up

You can ceramic coat stainless ....
But Ceramic coating mild steel is the best solution

You can buy ceramic paint and do it yourself.

I run the titanium DEI wrap on my headers. It works well as long as you are careful with them.

You can get header blankets which are pretty easy to install. Here is mine:



They're made by thermo-tec.

I like the idea of DIY paint. I also like the blankets, but they're so damn ugly.

I think the wrap looks great

DIY ceramic paint is like wrap
Only coats outside ...so metal gets hotter...greater cycling
Professional ceramic coating does inside and out so insulates metal from inside

you sure can, best bet would be to remove and ceramic coat inside and outside. that will give you the best results

No one does high quality heat reflective ceramic coating, lots of paint that doesnt peal off when its hot.

IE good if you want heat proof paint, bad if you want to retain heat.

Also you cannot do the inside of manifold and pipes because the prep process involves blasting the surface with a special grit at 90*, not possible inside a pipe.

Dann....Are you saying no one does a high quality DIY ceramic coating

There are a number of places that do professional coating.....and coat anything that is effected by heat/friction
