6 Speed Gearbox Install in NA.

I am intend to fit 6 speed to 1994 NA. My understanding is that there is an issue with the bolting pattern on the bell housing near the starter motor & my options are; (a) Change the starter motor & get an adaptor plate from a 6 speed NA or NB installation. (b) Leave a bolt out on the existing starter. One of our sponsors does option (b) which saves purchasing starter & adaptor.
Appreciate comments on pro’s & cons, especially from those who have fitted the 6 speed. Plus does anyone know where I may be likely to get the adaptor & starter in Sydney, just in case I go this way. THANKS

Just bolt the 5spd starter in with 2 bolts.

Unless you can easily get a 6spd starter, they ARE about 35% lighter that the 5spd one.
Then you can just take tin snips to the plate to make it fit, not really necessary to replace it.

Yep, just bolt it in.

It will be missing a bolt, it will work fine forever just bolt it in.

+1 for the above comments.
Did this for mine, works fine, doesn't fall off.

A lot of cars with the 5 speed only use two bolts as well if the starter has been replaced, since the 3rd bolts is a sh*t to get to.

Thanks for your comments, most helpful, I will go with two bolt option, there were no negatives comments to this option & its saves buying new starter & adaptor.

The 3rd option is to upgrade to the lighter NB starter and bolt it in with 2 bolts... They are a lot smaller and lighter and it makes it far easier to remove the transmission in the future.
