Howdy all,

There are a few cheap cooler kits off Ebay from China - not sure f I want one of them?
who can point me in the right direction for one for an NA8?

perhaps only need a 7 row to 11 row cooler.
While I'm not a fan of the current oil filter location, it actually doesn't bother me too much if I get a cooler kit which doesn't have the relocation kit.

this any good?

I've seen some nice aluminium billet China-eBay blocks (actually held them in my hands) but the kits typically come with cheap aluminium fittings which will leak
The China fittings weigh a lot less than similar SpeedHut or AeroFlow fittings and if you see them side by side, the Chinese fittings look frail.

By the time you replace the fittings with quality ones, which you will do when they leak, your cheap China-eBay oil cooler kit costs as much as a "real one" (buying fittings separately from a kit is expensive).

Finding an effective place to mount the oil cooler in an MX5 is a challenge; for it to be most effective it needs air to pass through it perpendicularly (which is why the FM kit is rubbish IMO).
Putting the cooler in front of the other coolers (intercooler, A/C condenser, radiator) makes them less effective.
Putting it behind them all makes the oil cooler less effective.

MT.net recommends AN-10 fittings/hoses too or don't bother if you genuinely have oil temperature issues - many cheap kits, including the FM kit, use AN-8 fittings.

Do a search for "Works Engineering" on this forum - their kit comes with AN-10 lines and decent fitting that you wont need to worry about leaking (pay a bit more for complete peace of mind).

Maybe not what you are looking for but the PWR radiator/oil combo works. To date have not seen oil/water temps above 102°C on the track and this is without fully sealing around it!

Note the Innovate senor has been replaced with a Haltech sensor.

That can't be a turbo drain line entering the sump - is that the relief flow from the Pederson?

Yes relief flow from the Peterson remote oil pressure controller, no turbo plans...

I took these photos a while ago when asked by somebody, can't remember if I ever posted them.

I'd recommend against the ebay billet sandwich plates. I have one if you want it. The problem with the billet ones on Ebay is that they look great, but there isn't enough meat around the 10AN fittings as they were designed for 1/8npt ports there, not 10AN ports so they tend to leak. I suggest going straight for a Setrab sandwich plate, with steel BSP fittings is worth the small amount extra. They seal and are durable.

You need:
Setrab sandwich plate (with thermostat) $100
Summit racing for 10AN fittings and hose $150
10 row oil cooler (whatever brand works for you) $100
If you want to run some sensors then use the 10AN male > 1/8npt > 10AN female fittings

Madjak, what measurements in the cooler you've used? Setrab coolers are in three widths for a given row count?

The wider one... it's long and flat. If you put it in good airflow then I dont think you need much bigger unless your pushing for massive power.
