I'm planning to install a 4.3 diff on an NB soon, so wanted to correct the speedo sender.

Can I just replace the gear on the speedo sender to one that matches the diff ratio?

If so, can I use the gear from an NA on the NB sender?

As long as the NB is still a cable you should be good to swap the sender. The NA8 also used a 4.1 diff, so sender from one of those should work.

OOPS! Wrong - going from 4.1 to 4.3 = sender from an NA6 needed. They make the gears loose enough so multiple different gears will mate with the drive gear in the box.

I think OP means swapping just the plastic gear. The NB gear is removable from the shaft but (i think) NA are not. They are of a different design too so i think its not possible.

NB is electronic.

The end that goes in the gearbox is the same, so a cable sender fits a gearbox that used to have a electronic and vice versa.

As for swapping the gears, it SHOULD work, but I seem to recall something about them using a different shaft diameter in the middle of the gear?

you'd really need to sit the two beside each other and see if it's possible/easy.

There are many causes of speedometer error;
Stock vehicle speedos can read 2-10% fast (ie. direct from the manufacturer).
Gearing changes; transmission, differential, changing sprockets, chain, etc.
Wheel size, wheel diameter and/or tyre size changes.
Engine transplant, bike engine in kit cars.
Instrument cluster, dash or speedo faceplate swapping.
