Hey guys,
So ebay are having a 20% sale on at the moment and i'm thinking of picking up a new clutch (been noticing a lot of slippage lately :\)
Can pick up an Xtreme HD for around 180$. Was just wondering what are people's experiences with it and is it actually worth the extra 200$ to get a exedy sports tuff.
Thanks

I've got an extreme clutch in my car. Very happy with it, no issues.

I feel compelled to give 'real life results' here for the OPs benefit. Not to decry any of the foregoing observations or opinions, as there are as many differing experiences, as there are people to ask, and no two set ups/applications are the same, so sift thru the chaff.
Below is a Dyno run print out from my '90 NA (Turbo:) Note the date on the sheet is May 2014.(if the [img] fails, PM me & I'll send a copy:)
At the same time, I fitted the Extreme HD clutch kit from Melbourne, having had fairly extensive discussions with reps from the manufacturer of this item, as well as the well known and regarded almost identical Excedy unit, which was unavailable at the time.
During the following 18 months,
and about 800,000 Killer Wasps of track/road events, the 'Turbonator' has broken a g'box, killed a diff, spat off hoses, liberally lubricated the engine bay with expelled (blow by) Penrite'Racing', put to rest more R $pecs than I'd budgeted for, and left me with a 'Lakeside Perennial Pucker'!:(
THE CLUTCH LIVES ON!! I will probly 'sqeeze' my Ebay accnt at that price and store one in the wank bank.

'WHIMSICAL WISDOM':-)
Performance modding cars is analogous to sex. There is eager anticipation, frustration at the time required for results, confusion as to strategies/techniques, denial of the cost$ involved, AND ultimately delivery of a result that will vary individually from 'glorious achievement' to 'disastrous disappointment'! Gratification, or 'buyer's remorse'. Yes, we all pay for the 'Prize' in $ome way:-)
Good luck!

Aussie made too I believe so that's a plus. Someone has to support local manufacturing business & their workers haha, otherwise we can all work in supermarkets.

When you're spending $200-$400 for entry fees, and you're doing this 6-8 (or more) times per year, spending a little extra on a clutch is small potatoes - in particular given the effort required to install one (and a replacement one if it fails).
Buy a good clutch John. I'm not saying Exedy. Import an ACT clutch from the states. You won't regret it - in particular if you come and race the Cup, and need to get your car off the line smoothly. They are absolutely fantastic. The Americans swear by them and having used several now, in both my turbo roadie and the race car, I can see why.

Thing is, OP asked a question, I give them an honest answer.
If a clutch can't handle abuse from a 'not so stock driver' then its still not good enough.
As zossy said, better to pay for a good clutch and pay for it once. And also as zossy said, listen to the people who have the experience and know whats best... or make your own opinion and make your own mistakes.
