The SE had the BP-4W, the Z3 can be identified by the S-VT actuator on the intake side of the cam cover.

Yes all naturally aspirated NB8B's have the Z3.

I think the autos (2002 onwards, there was no 2001 model year auto) have the non SVT engine (along with smaller brakes, less bracing, less power & torque)

My manual, 2001 Oct build has BP-4W written in 3 places in the engine bay.

It's a Z3, you can see the S-VT actuator on the intake cam.

Yes, directly opposite the oil cap, on the other valve bank.
