NA engine oil squirters help
On a MX5 NA engine the oil squirter assemblies that sit at the bottom of the block and spray oil to the piston. I have new copper washers but not sure of spring and ball bearing order. Does the ball bearing sit up in the hollow mounting bolt near the head of the bolt first with the spring holding it in place? I have tried to Google a diagram but no luck.

Re: NA engine oil squirters help
An apology for the above question. I could probably say it was a trick question rather than stupid .... but no it was stupid. When we removed the oil squirter retaining bolts they were broken. I found a spring and ball bearing floating around in each hole. The oil squirter retaining bolts actually have the spring and ball bearing retained INSIDE. Once I obtained replacement bolts it was apparent that the spring and ball bearing shouldn't be loose. The spring sits closest to the bolt head and tensions the ball bearing. If you find a spring and ball bearing then you have a broken part. The spring and ball bearing won't come out of the bolt unless the bolt is broken.
