Looks like it's missing the barbs.
Sorry not sorry for the thread hijack.

They have the PCV vents etc, just in different locations to the MX5

One points right at the firewall when fitted to an MX5 (not an issue on the 323), and while it's tight, you can still use it, just buy some hosing and route it differently to the OEM hose.

Alternatively, some people just block off that bent and drill into the side of the cover to fit a replacement barb in a similar position to the MX5 stock placement.

Now that i'm close to acquiring a bpt cover, i've mocked up the ford lynx one to consider if it is worthy.
What do you guys think? I like how the cover curves up to meet the front and the fact that it is just different to the more common standard mx5 cut cover or bpt option.

Also if anyone does have one of those old roadster floormat badges they'd consider selling, give me a yell.
Cheers.

Personally I really like the laser one there, similar but different.

Badge options you could also look into sand casting, since it's pretty simple to build a small furnace.

Or see if someone with a 3d printer can do you a badge in high temp ABS plastic (I don't know what temps it starts to go weird though, you'd need to look that up)

I had my cam cover machined at a shop for 50 bucks to make way for my Maruha timing cover;

Here's a practice run at etching aluminium with ferric chloride using an artline permanent marker for an acid resist. Its freehand so a bit dodge 8)

The texta worked surprisingly well, the method was a bit 'ghetto' however results were promising enough to continue with a decent attempt.

Actually it looks pretty good - really close to the original. Would a better image of my floormat badge help you?

Thanks for the offer manga, and madjak for the image.
Jaycar usually stock etching gear for etching pcb boards and the like for electronics. They also stock a diluted ferric chloride solution which is a fair bit safer than hydrochloric acid and easier to work over larger items as the etching process is slow and manageable.
The results above took around 10 minutes. I simply dripped the solution on with a paintbrush and gently agitated it while it bubbled away. When sufficent depth was achieved i doused the the aluminum in a bucket of water.

If you can wait until end of January I can make you up a plaque and laser etch it.
We just bought a Speed marker 1300 and I need to make some brass roadster plaques for a run of car mats.

I'm actually pretty exited about this new etcher. It's heaps of fun.
