Whats needed to do some circuit races

Hey All,

I ask similar questions every now and then, but I am considering buying another NA mx5 and putting a 13b in it...(Geez, the 3rd one now...) and having this as my street car. I dont want to put a cage in this car (unless its one that can be bolted in and out) but I would like to be able to take this to places like eastern creek and goulburn and have some fun around corners...

Is this going to be possible or is this new car just going to purely be a street car?

Thanks all

Lee

I'm guessing your question is what MX5 class could you compete in?

no no, I dont want to actually compete just take the car to a couple of mx5 day things and have some fun.... just want to know do you need a roll cage to do that... I dont think I could compete in drag racing and circuit racing, that just sounds expensive...

If it's a club day and your not road registered I think it has to be log booked. Otherwise if it's registered it's gold afaik.

so just sprints then? if so, turn up, pay the $$$ and do the laps. no different from drags.

If its a club day you are doing with the MX5 Club of NSW.

I belive you need a valid Drivers licence.
you need to have your body covered from neck to ancles & wrist with a helmet which passed some standrard. I can't recall that standard now.
but you can read through the documents on this page to give you an idea.

but as far as the car is concerned. I'm sure a roll cage will not be required if its road registered. i'm sure you'll find all the info there.

I hope that helps

Many moons ago when I did sprints, the cars did not have to be road registered. They were OK as long as it passed scrutineering.
As above, there are no great requirements for sprint racing. The other thing to watch out for is noise - you need to be below the track limit - 93dB?
