2007 Queensland Challenge

The 2007 Allstar Tuning Systems Queensland Challenge will be run on July 28. Again, starting at Queensland Raceway early in the morning, and hopefully finishing at Brisbane's other premier racing circuit that afternoon. With some luck, supp regs will be out next week.
Due to limited timespace available at some venues, entries will be limited to 60 this year so get those entries in early. And as a round of the MX5 Challenge, I expect to see a few MX5s battling with all the others.
In initial planning, we were hoping to have 10 speed sub events. But logistical impossibilities have pushed us back to 8, if all goes well. Here's hoping.
We got out on the road today, and the course is plotted. I am actually really pleased with this year's event. In some senses it is more compact that previous years, but still running over 300kms for the day. Definitely a driver's event this year, even the navigation stages feature some of the best driving roads around.
Here are some teasers, showing a very wet SE Qld.

I have to admit that I didn't expect the posts in the thread to be from you 2! Freddo - Is it still mmm if I told you your car is quicker? And I made the wheels even lighter Ryan!
For the Qld'ers, even if you are not looking to enter, this event is always on the lookout for volunteers. We need quite a few to make this event run. If you can spare some time that day, please let me know.

Are they the \"Pearly Gates\" you're parked in front of? I think I can see heaven in the background...

Don't start praying to me (yet), I still have about a dozen hoops to jump through. The big thing in our favour is that when we were there in March, they did use that as a noise testing chance, and we were quiet enough. Now I need to work on a workable format, and safety plans....
On the plus side, we completed the fixes to the supp regs and entry form last night. I tell ya, its no fun having to work out each time if there is something new from CAMS! Hope to have these released on Monday after getting final approval.
Ryan - thanks for the offer. But if you are short of weekends, best you save them for work that benefits only me

Yell when you want the truckloads of wet stuff for your place.

Are you assuming you will make it to full rpm at Lakeside Drew? Lets just let you get through next weekend first, you are a brave man.
Sure thing Drew, I do know of a few actually, and a few navs. Lets just add them to the fold.

Drew - I hope that Typhoon has a big roll cage, those roads are nice and fast.
Adam - Both car and driver have had a long disassociation from that circuit. I will follow your advice and just let the car do its thing then.
BTW all looks good, supp regs and entry form should be up on the website soon.

Its classified as a touring road event under CAMS regs, or a Classic Rally. Scoring is made up of both speed sub events and navigation sections. So you navigate your way somewhere (based on the instructions and maps you are given) and when you get there you put your helmets on and drive fast. Then you do another navigation section to another speed bit etc etc. For this one, we are hoping for 8 speed sub events, and 3-4 navigation sections.
Both crew will need a L2S licence, helmets and std sprint apparel will be adequate. Its meant for road cars but there will be a few dedicated rally cars entered. Cars only need the most basic safety items, like extinguishers, first aid kit and safety triangles.
If you have any more questions, ask away.

And these boys want more competition. They somehow keep getting rid of the blown MX5s.
