seat build date??

hey heard a mention of a manufacture date being an issue with using a race seat on the track??? this true?
I think it is only if it FIA approved and your are competing in a cams event. This is the same for harnesses which are FIA approved, they have an expiry date on them. After the date you need to either have them rewebbed or replaced. Most events dont specify FIA approved seats and harnesses etc, but if it is approved then it should be in date to be able to use it, but that might not be checked.
Please correct me if I am wrong, I don't have a cams manual anymore to check.
