Was last Saturday but it seems people are planning another visit this weekend. I'll be here until 2pm or so, so feel free to drop in and say hello

All Australian Exocets now come with double diagonals.
From the looks of the Flyinmiata page that extra diagonal is actually an optional piece for the race form of the chassis.
Click on this link and scroll down the page, it shows up as a red tube in the graphic.....

If it's already an option from the manufacturer, would it more cost effective and easier to just have this single tube element included in the kits ordered down the track?

It is now. Same old story, first order, iron out the bugs. Second order, bugs sorted.

Re: Exocet Build 001
Would make a good race series if everyone just used standard NB8B mechanicals. Exhaust, intake, light flywheel, control tyres, wheels, etc.
If you make a body for it. Why not a copy of an MX5?

because who would pay somewhere around, say 22k for an MX5 kit car, on top of cost of donor, when you could just keep the donor?

Engineering Win
Australian ICV's must pass Beaming & Torsional Rigidity to get registered. As I've been getting closer to the completion of the first frame, it's been on my mind more and more because my engineer always said the first frame would have to do the test, regardless of what results Exomotive sent through.
Treeve has just informed me that the FEA test results show the US designed Exocet frame is 5000nm/deg, surpassing Australian Standards by 1000nm/deg. And that FEA results are pretty much spot on with real time testing.
And with that little piece of info my friends, I can now sleep easy. With that figure, getting the Exocet on the road in Australia is now out of my hands, and into yours. Yours, and the engineer that you choose to use. Providing you follow the applicable ADR's, getting your Exocet registered is now a reality.

LOL.
Aparently this photo is a sanitised version, there's rumoured to be one of Dann shagging the tailpipe for MT.net.

Re: Exocet Build 001
On a more serious note, please install a proper race seat in there NOW to ensure that it will fit - that diagonal bar on the right of the seat looks like it will prevent most "wings" from fitting. NB seats are crap for holding you in and I'd hate to see a great concept like this spoiled by the fact that you can't fit a proper seat in there.
Note to self: STOP LOOKING AT THIS THREAD (do want, can't afford now, haven't finished my current car yet and have no space for this).

Just for the record, it was the air intake, not the tailpipe, and before proceeding Dann asked me for a cowboy hat....
